  • Patent number: 8627156
Abstract: A device under test (DUT) is tested by: receiving a signal transmitted by the DUT, wherein the signal includes first portions that include scrambled bits produced from a selected bit pattern and a selected scrambling algorithm, and further includes second portions that include unscrambled bits, the first portions and second portions being interspersed within the signal; detecting received scrambled bits within the received signal; generating a test bit sequence using the selected scrambling algorithm and the selected bit pattern, including generating a bit of the test bit sequence for each of the received scrambled bits within the received signal, and not generating a bit of the test bit sequence for each of the received unscrambled bits within the received signal; and comparing the received scrambled bits to the test bit sequence to determine a bit error rate of the received signal.

  • Publication number: 20070139132
Abstract: A Ytrium Iron Garnett (YIG) filter tuning system includes a YIG filter having a filter passband and associated filter bandwidth, a noise source selectively coupled to an input of the YIG filter, and a receiver coupled to an output of the YIG filter, the receiver having a measurement passband with an associated measurement bandwidth that is less than the filter bandwidth. The receiver acquires a series of measurements at the output of the YIG filter within the measurement passband and within the filter passband when the noise source is coupled to the input of the YIG filter.

  • Publication number: 20070086354
Abstract: In one embodiment there is provided a method for performing a bit error rate test. In accord with the method, a bitstream generated in accord with a predetermined algorithm is sent via a transmitting end of a communication link. The bitstream is then received via a receiving end of the communication link; and, for each of a number of bit sets in the received bitstream, i) a first number of bits in the bit set, and the predetermined algorithm, are used to predict a second number of bits in the bit set, and ii) a bit error rate for the received bitstream is determined, in part, by comparing the predicted second number of bits to a corresponding second number of bits in the bit set. Other embodiments are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20060088889
Abstract: The present invention provides peptides libraries which are useful for rapid identification of biologically active compounds. The invention further provides peptides which include cell-growth affecting peptides and peptides which enhance or inhibit production of cellular proteins. Many of the peptides of the invention may be produced in large quantity by recombinant techniques and formulated in culture medium to produce the desired effect on cultured cells and tissues. Abstract: A magnet set forth used is in a drain plug. A drain plug is assembled with an attached holder securing an inserted cylindrical magnet. The drain plug is formed of non ferrous material such as brass, aluminum, stainless steel, etc. It is constructed in accordance with industry standards to fit as a replacement device in oil drain pans, and is non ferrous material. It incorporates an extending threaded shaft. The holder is constructed with an axial passage there through having threads at the small end for threading through the drain plug. The passage extends fully through the device, interrupted by a transverse internal registration shoulder at the middle, and defines an extending skirt fitting loosely around an elongate cylindrical rare earth magnet.
