  • Patent number: 5756012
Abstract: An apparatus for dissolving a gas in a liquid employs means for determining the alpha factor of said liquid or a parameter related thereto and control means to control the pumping rate of liquid through the apparatus in response thereto thereby maintaining the gas to liquid flow volume fraction and hence the gas dissolution efficiency within desired limits.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 30, 1996
Date of Patent: May 26, 1998
    Assignee: The BOC Group plc
Inventors: Stuart Roy Lauder McGlashan, Stephen Bruce Harrison
  • Patent number: 4921753
Abstract: The invention discloses a metal stiffener composite article comprising a reinforcing resin solution of an elastomer, a thermosetting resin and a thermosetting resin curing agent formed into strips and contacted with a porous reinforcing layer. The reinforcing resin solution being thermodynamically unstable such that a thermosetting rich phase separates from the solution and forms a layer upon the surface of the solution impregnating the porous reinforcing layer.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 8, 1987
Date of Patent: May 1, 1990
    Assignee: United Technologies Automotive Inc.
    Inventor: Bruce Harrison
  • Patent number: 4769166
Abstract: Disclosed is a novel, magnetic sealant comprising a styrene blocked copolymer, a solubilizing agent, magnetic particles and a blowing agent which will, upon exposure to temperature, will cause the sealant to melt and be drawn toward the magnetically attractive substrate and will also foam, thereby increasing in dimension to fill irregular gap.

  • Patent number: 4749434
Abstract: A hot melt magnetic sealant that exhibits improved adhesion to oil covered galvanized ferrometallic substrates and to epoxy electrodeposition coated ferrometallic substrates is disclosed. The sealant comprises magnetic filler particles, a hydrocarbon resin, a tackifier resin, a plasticizer, an epoxy resin and an epoxy curing agent. A method for making a hot melt sealant tape comprising mixing a formulation of magnetizable particles, a hydrocarbon resin, a tackifier resin, a plasticizer, an epoxy resin and an epoxy curing agent, extruding the mixture to form a tape and exposing the tape to an electromagnetic field is also disclosed. Methods for using the magnetic sealant tape to seal a joint between ferrometallic members having oil covered galvanized surfaces or epoxy electrodeposition coated ferrometallic members comprising disposing the tape to cover the joint and heating the tape are also disclosed.
