  • Patent number: 8313679
Abstract: A method for producing a mold lining (G) intended for the manufacture of tires comprising tread blocks that have incisions in them and studs. A mold lining is produced by positioning lamella (L1, L2, L3, L4, L5, L6) of substantially equivalent shape and length on the parts of the lining (G) that are intended to mold the rubber blocks. In a next step, the material of the lining (G) and of the lamella (L1, L2, L3, L4, L5, L6) contained in a cylindrical space located at each of the sites intended to accept pins capable of molding the housings for the studs is removed radially, and an insert supporting a pin is positioned in the hole obtained beforehand.

  • Patent number: 7565014
Abstract: A method and apparatus for an automated system to extract a high quality signature from an image having areas not relevant for specific identification purposes which can lead to misleading image signatures, the method comprising: identifying at least one region of interest within the image by determining local orientation information at each pixel position in the image, the at least one region of interest comprising elements useful for the specific identification purposes; creating and applying a mask for the image wherein only the at least one region of interest is exposed; extracting a signature for the image taking into account the at least one region of interest exposed by the mask.

  • Publication number: 20080029193
Abstract: A tire tread comprising a tread pattern composed of a plurality of elements in relief in the form of blocks and/or ribs defined by grooves. A plurality of these elements in relief are provided with at least one incision oriented at an average orientation defined as being the angle between a straight line passing through the ends of the incision on the running surface and the transverse direction of the tread, each incision being limited by walls of rubber mix and comprising at least two portions the average orientations of which, measured relative to the transverse direction, are different from the average orientation of the incision. On at least some of said portions having an orientation different from the average orientation of the incision, there is formed, on at least one of the walls defining the incision, at least one protuberance locally reducing the width of the incision by at least 50% of its greatest width (E).
