The mount includes a pin which is magnetically actuated to extend into a hole disposed in the protective case when the case and the mount are brought within a prescribed distance. Thus, the case and the mount “snap together” and are restrained from sliding relative to one another by the pin.

The shuttle contains a first magnet and a second magnet, and the segmented support contains magnets which generate either attractive or repulsive forces depending on the position of the shuttle, which forces cause deployment of the support.

One embodiment features an annular bezel having a conforming interior channel which engages the sides of the tracking device, and an upper opening, which leaves a portion of the upper side of the tracking device exposed. Certain embodiments feature a bezel that permits the tracking device to be inserted into the protective case relatively easily, while other embodiments feature a cover which engages with a base, making removal of the tracking device impractical without damaging the case itself. One embodiment may be used with shoelaces and features a flat elastomeric surface to which graphic designs may be applied.
