Abstract: A portable computer includes a base having a perimeter including a plurality of sides and a module opening formed in one of the sides. A display panel having a viewing surface is housed by a cover pivotally connected to the base for movement between an open position and a closed position. The cover includes a visor extending in a direction substantially perpendicular to the viewing surface of the display panel, such that the visor covers a portion of the module opening when the cover is in the closed position.

Abstract: A portable computer includes a base and a cover mounted to the base. The base has a first hinge groove formed in an external surface of the base, and the cover has a second hinge groove formed in an external surface of the cover. The portable computer also includes a hinge having a first portion and a second portion. The first portion is seated in the first hinge groove and is substantially flush with the external surface of the base adjacent the first hinge groove. The first portion is rigidly connected to the base. The second portion is seated in the second hinge groove and is substantially flush with the external surface of the cover adjacent the second hinge groove. The second portion is pivotally connected to the cover and rigidly connected to the first portion such that the second portion is substantially perpendicular to the first portion.

Abstract: An apparatus for securing a component in a computer chassis. The apparatus provides a tray that may be made from a resilient material in which the computer component is encased. The computer component is thereby isolated from physical shock applied to the chassis, and sound from the component is dampened from escaping the confines of the apparatus. Embodiments of the tray are particularly constructed to be placed near the top of a tower configuration computer and encased by a cover that keeps the component secured. The cover is removable and therefore allows for ready access to the component.

Abstract: A computer system includes a housing having a docking connector. A combined height adjustment and cover member is mounted on the housing and is movable from a first position wherein the connector is covered, to a second position wherein the connector is uncovered and the member is in abutment with an external surface of the housing and positioned to be engagable with a docking tray for elevating the housing above the tray surface. This provides a variable height adjustment capability between the docking connector of the computer and the mating connector on the docking tray.
