  • Patent number: 9808021
Abstract: Systems and methods for treating grain stored in a grain pile with ozone are effective for treating grain for toxins, insects, mold, and/or odor. A method according to embodiments of the invention involves monitoring at least one of temperature and odor at a plurality of aeration outlet locations spaced around the grain pile. When an abnormal temperature variance or odor is detected at one or more of the aeration outlet locations, a determination is made as to a problem location within the grain pile where a treatment of ozone should be applied, and a further determination is made as to how best to apply ozone to the problem location. Ozone is then applied to the problem location within the grain pile to minimize nascent problems in the grain pile. The ozone treatment may reduce molds and toxins.

  • Patent number: 9808020
Abstract: Methods and systems for treatment of grain in a storage container using ozone may be used for treating grain for toxins, insects, mold, and/or odor. Downdraft methods for applying high concentrations of ozone to grain in a storage container treat grain without generating ozone-related objectionable odors or with generation of only minimal ozone-related objectionable odors. A method for downdraft ozone treatment of grain with minimal generation of ozone-related objectionable odors involves providing a negative air pressure at a bottom of a volume of grain in a storage container. A high ozone concentration is generated in air above an upper surface of the volume of grain. The ozone is drawn down into the volume of grain using the negative air pressure for a treatment time sufficient to effectively treat the grain without causing significant ozone-related commercially-objectionable foreign odors in the grain.

  • Publication number: 20170306564
Abstract: The disclosure relates to methods and compositions for enhancing the performance of a sizing agent in a papermaking process using a sizing agent enhancer. The sizing agent can be emulsified with an emulsifier and the sizing enhancer can be a polymer comprising at least one primary or secondary amine containing monomer. The method can comprise emulsifying the sizing agent with the emulsifier; and thereafter adding the emulsified sizing agent and the sizing enhancer, separately from or contemporaneously with the emulsified sizing agent, to a fiber furnish of a papermaking process. The combination of the emulsified sizing agent and the sizing enhancer improves the sizing of product paper over the use of the sizing agent without the sizing enhancer. In at least some embodiments, the emulsified sizing agent is ASA emulsified with a polymer comprising at least one primary or secondary amine containing monomer and the sizing enhancer comprises a diallylamine-acrylamide copolymer.

  • Publication number: 20170300799
Abstract: Card including a substrate, at least one biometric data entry device on the substrate to receive biometric data about an individual holding the substrate, a memory component on the substrate and containing biometric data about an individual possessing the card and at least one private key, and a processor configured to compare biometric data received via the biometric data entry device to biometric data contained in the memory component to determine whether they match. When there is a biometric data match, a process requiring use of the private key(s) is initiated for authorized use of the card. A chassis intrusion detector system detects tampering with the card and upon such detection, causes deletion of the private key(s) to thereby prevent unauthorized use of the card.

  • Publication number: 20170302455
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for facilitating the generating of digital identity documents. A system receives a selection and initialization of properties (e.g., identity attributes, document type, alternate views, an acquisition uniform resource locator (URL)) to be used in a digital identity document (e.g., driver's license). The system then builds a template using the selected properties. The system may then present a list of built templates to a user/verifier to be used in generating a corresponding digital identity document. Upon receiving the selected template, the system provides the acquisition URL associated with the selected template to the user/verifier to be used by the user/verifier to request the corresponding digital identity document from the issuer. After receiving the digital identity document constructed by the issuer from the issuer, the system delivers the received digital identity document to the user/verifier.

  • Patent number: 9791261
Abstract: A frequency swept laser source for TEFD-OCT imaging includes an integrated clock subsystem on the optical bench with the laser source. The clock subsystem generates frequency clock signals as the optical signal is tuned over the scan band. Preferably the laser source further includes a cavity extender in its optical cavity between a tunable filter and gain medium to increase an optical distance between the tunable filter and the gain medium in order to control the location of laser intensity pattern noise. The laser also includes a fiber stub that allows for control over the cavity length while also controlling birefringence in the cavity.

  • Patent number: 9786986
Abstract: A reconfigurable holographic antenna and a method of shaping an antenna beam pattern of a reconfigurable holographic antenna is disclosed. A baseline holographic pattern is driven onto a reconfigurable layer of the reconfigurable holographic antenna while a feed wave excites the reconfigurable layer. An antenna pattern metric representative of a baseline antenna pattern is received. The baseline antenna pattern is generated by the reconfigurable holographic antenna while the baseline holographic pattern is driven onto the reconfigurable layer. A modified holographic pattern is generated in response to the antenna pattern metric. The modified holographic pattern is driven onto the reconfigurable layer of the reconfigurable holographic antenna to generate an improved antenna pattern.

  • Publication number: 20170289955
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for managing in a wireless communication device the receipt of a paging signal from a wide area wireless network. The method includes detecting by the wireless communication device whether the user of the wireless communication device is available for receiving an alert regarding incoming information via the wireless communication device. When the device determines that the user is not available for receiving the alert, one or more intervals during which a paging signal is expected as being possible are ignored by the wireless communication device, such that any paging signal for the wireless communication device that is present during the one or more intervals that are being ignored by the wireless communication device are not received by the wireless communication device.

  • Publication number: 20170288877
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for delivering a digital identity document. A request is received to purchase a digital identity document from a user by a system. An acquisition uniform resource locator (URL) with parameters corresponding to the identity of the user and the requested digital identity document is created and provided to the user. The user utilizes the received URL to communicate with an issuer to request the digital identity document. The system then receives the requested digital identity document in encrypted form from the issuer. The system then delivers the encrypted digital identity document to the user. In this manner, the system can deliver to the user an identity document in digital form that has been vetted as trusted in a secure manner thereby reducing the number of occurrences in providing improper identity documents as well as lessening the ability to generate falsified identity documents.

  • Patent number: 9772423
Abstract: A method of imaging electrical conductivity distribution of a subsurface containing metallic structures with known locations and dimensions is disclosed. Current is injected into the subsurface to measure electrical potentials using multiple sets of electrodes, thus generating electrical resistivity tomography measurements. A numeric code is applied to simulate the measured potentials in the presence of the metallic structures. An inversion code is applied that utilizes the electrical resistivity tomography measurements and the simulated measured potentials to image the subsurface electrical conductivity distribution and remove effects of the subsurface metallic structures with known locations and dimensions.
