  • Patent number: 10033381
Abstract: Arrangement for controlling a component having multiple states includes a device that generates a signal at a frequency that enables it to be conducted through a human body, and a conductive surface coupled to the device, situated in a position accessible by a part of the human, and which enables proximity or contact of the part of the human to the conductive surface to develop a reactive coupling between the human and the conductive surface. The component has multiple, different states and is controlled by the human to change from a first state to a second state upon completion of an electrical circuit including the component, the conductive surface and the device upon developing reactive coupling between the human and the conductive surface when the device is generating the signal conducted through the human. The component may be a vehicular component such as a door or window.

  • Patent number: 10006171
Abstract: The disclosure relates to methods and compositions for enhancing the performance of a sizing agent in a papermaking process using a sizing agent enhancer. The sizing agent can be emulsified with an emulsifier and the sizing enhancer can be a polymer comprising at least one primary or secondary amine containing monomer. The method can comprise emulsifying the sizing agent with the emulsifier; and thereafter adding the emulsified sizing agent and the sizing enhancer, separately from or contemporaneously with the emulsified sizing agent, to a fiber furnish of a papermaking process. The combination of the emulsified sizing agent and the sizing enhancer improves the sizing of product paper over the use of the sizing agent without the sizing enhancer. In at least some embodiments, the emulsified sizing agent is ASA emulsified with a polymer comprising at least one primary or secondary amine containing monomer and the sizing enhancer comprises a diallylamine-acrylamide copolymer.

  • Patent number: 10005704
Abstract: The invention provides an improved process to manufacture 2-chloro-1,1,1,2-tetrafluoropropane (HCFC-244bb) by reacting 2-chloro-3,3,3,-trifluoropropene (HCFO-1233xf) with hydrogen fluoride, in the presence of a fluorination catalyst, where by using 2-chloro-3,3,3, -trifluoropropene (HCFO-1233xf) of high purity, the need to add an oxidizing agent (typically chlorine) to keep the catalyst active can be avoided. The HCFC-244bb is then used as an intermediate in the production of 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene-1 (HFO-1234yf).

  • Publication number: 20180152340
Abstract: An approach is provided for managing requests by a cloud-based multipurpose messaging queue (MPMQ) located in a first computer. For each given request in requests received by the MPMQ, the MPMQ receives a specification of whether the given request is a standard or a critical request based on whether the given request requires an action by a second computer of a third party to respond to the given request. On condition that the received specification indicates that the given request is the critical request, a first message is added to a critical message queue to be accessed by the second computer, with the first message including response information helpful to the second computer in responding to the given request corresponding to the first message. On condition that the received specification indicates that the given request is the standard request, a first message is added to a standard message queue.

  • Patent number: 9982962
Abstract: An air gun includes two different types of energy sources that may be used to fire a projectile. A first type of energy source may include an air cylinder having a piston that moves through a cylinder, as urged by a mechanical spring or gas strut, to create compressed air charge for firing a projectile. A second type of energy source may include a compressed gas storage tank that holds compressed air, or another propellant, that is released during firing to urge the piston through the air cylinder to create a compressed air charge for firing a projectile. An air gun may, additionally or alternately, include features that promote efficient delivery of a compressed air charge to a transfer port and projectile chamber, during firing. Examples of such features include piston configurations that reduce or prevent piston rebound through the interaction of the piston face and air cylinder, upon impact.

  • Publication number: 20180138354
Abstract: A curing tool for fabricating solar cells using UV-curing of light-receiving surfaces of the solar cells, and the resulting solar cells, are described herein. In an example, a curing tool combines a UV-exposure stage and one or more of a deposition or an annealing stage to fabricate a solar cell. For example, a radiation curing stage can precede a back end processing stage used to perform operations on a back contact solar cell. The curing tool can therefore be used to perform a method to improve UV stability of solar cells.

  • Patent number: 9961915
Abstract: Methods and systems for treatment of grain for toxins and/or odor utilize a storage container having a grain storage space and an aeration floor that allows air to flow through the aeration floor into the grain storage space. Ozone (mixed with air) is supplied to the grain through the aeration floor under positive pressure, whereby ozone is forced through the aeration floor into a lower portion of the grain storage space. After an initial treatment time, the initial treatment time allowing for the ozone to reduce toxins and/or odor in a lowermost portion of the initial quantity of grain an effective or desired amount, a lowermost portion or a lower treated portion of the grain in the grain storage space is removed, and new grain is added on top of the grain in the grain storage space, all while continuing to supply ozone through the aeration floor under positive pressure.
