  • Publication number: 20150161119
Abstract: A real-time locater for digital media objects, related to one or more musical compositions and accessible over a network, is described. A service-provider maintains a master index of the digital media objects and a playlist-resolver server. The master index is organized by considering each media object to be an example of a primary attribute associated with the media object by a multitude of users. The reference is constructed as a data structure of primary attributes and means of locating the media objects as instances of primary attributes. The playlist-resolver works with the master index to translate a list of references to creative works into a series of successful accesses to the corresponding media object files.

  • Patent number: 8995429
Abstract: Systems and methods for assigning unique network identifiers in a packet-switched wired network and methods for communicating with a network device in a packet-switched wired network are provided. A request for a unique network identifier for a network device is received. A socket-based unique network identifier, including an IP address and one or more ports, is assigned to the network device. The unique network identifier is created by combining an IP address and one or more ports. This allows multiple unique network identifiers to be created from a single IP address, where each unique network identifier consists of the same IP address combined with a different group of one or more ports.

  • Publication number: 20140375977
Abstract: A LIDAR system that can accommodate both a clear atmosphere and be adaptable to environments in which smoke, dust or other particulates (i.e., a degraded environment) exist in the atmosphere around the target is described. The system operates in two fields of regard: clear view mode (wide field of regard) and a degraded view mode (narrow field of regard). The wide field of regard allows the output laser energy to be concentrated over a large number of detector pixels and thus resulting in high scene scan rate. The narrow field of regard allows concentrating the laser output energy on fewer pixels to compensate for the loss of laser energy due to atmospheric degradation. The combination of the ROIC and LIDAR modes of operation result in a system that is capable of operation under clear and degraded environments.

  • Patent number: 8874238
Abstract: An ABI pad having a configuration and composition to provide the ABI pad with sufficient flexibility to permit the pad to be curved, molded or otherwise conformed to the cochlear nucleus, brainstem or other therapeutically-beneficial site, while ensuring the ABI pad maintains structural integrity over the anticipated operational life of the implant. The ABI pads are manufactured from silicone or other biocompatible material having a durometer sufficient to ensure the durability of the ABI pad over the anticipated operational life of the implant. To attain substantial flexibility, the thickness or cross section of the ABI pad is as minimal as possible to increase flexibility while not adversely affecting the noted durability of the pad. In one embodiment, the ABI pads are formed with an aperture in its interior region resulting in an ABI pad having minimal material mass while having sufficient structural integrity to reliably support the electrodes and associated wires.

  • Patent number: 8866556
Abstract: A phase shift phase locked loop (PSPLL) are described. The phase shift PLL includes a PLL and a phase adjusting circuit coupled to the inputs of the PLL. The phase adjusting circuit has a first input, a first output, a second input, a third input, and a second output. The first output and the second output are coupled to a first input and a second input of the PLL, respectively. The second input of the phase adjusting circuit receives a feedback signal and the third input of the phase adjusting circuit receives a control signal. The phase adjusting circuit receives a reference signal and sends a first output signal and a second output signal based on the reference signal to the PLL to adjust a phase of an output signal of the PLL in an increment less than a time period of the output signal of the PLL.

  • Patent number: 8854991
Abstract: A method, system, and medium are provided for updating bindings associated with a first mobile IP session by tunneling binding updates through registration messages associated with a second mobile IP session. A first mobile IP client provides binding updates to a second mobile IP client, which includes the binding updates in an extended registration request. The extended registration request is communicated to a mobile IP agent associated with the second mobile IP session. The request is parsed, and the binding updates are provided to a mobile IP agent associated with the first mobile IP session. Binding-update acknowledgements can be returned to mobile IP clients in a similar fashion.

  • Publication number: 20140297808
Abstract: A software based system for facilitating streaming of media files to a device over a wide area network (WAN) includes an agent process, an authentication process, a client services process and a client process. The agent process catalogs local media files and advises the authentication process of it's availability on the WAN and the address at which it may be contacted. The client process contacts the client services process to obtain, after authenticating with it, the WAN address of the agent process and contacts the agent process to receive information or meta-data describing the media files available for streaming. The client process obtains information for forming a URI or playlist, that it then passes to a media player to request the stream over the WAN. Alternately, the client process may direct the agent process to pass the URL to another client process on, for example, the same local area network.

  • Patent number: 8848531
Abstract: Computer-readable media for dynamic quality of service assignment are described. In embodiments, a data packet is received that is part of a communications stream and a dynamically modifiable quality of service indicator (DMQOSI) is embedded into the data packet wherein, in various embodiments, the DMQOSI indicates a prescribed quality of service that is associated with the data packet and is modifiable prior to completing a communication of the communications stream. In various embodiments, the data packet is communicated from a source to a destination that at least periodically references the DMQOSI to ensure that the data packet is being communicated consistent with the prescribed quality of service associated with the data packet.

  • Publication number: 20140223645
Abstract: A hinge mechanism for attaching ear accessories to a helmet allows an accessory to be attached at a point outside the helmet shell utilizing, for example, a slidable mounting rail, and to reach under the edge of the helmet shell so that the accessory is supported in contact with the wearer's head. The hinge mechanism is well suited for use in connection with military helmets that have a “bulge” or protrusion over the ear.
