  • Patent number: 11027280
Abstract: A microfluidic device includes a particle sorting region having a first, second and third microfluidic channels, a first array of islands separating the first microfluidic channel from the second microfluidic channel, and a second array of islands separating the first microfluidic channel from the third microfluidic channel, in which the island arrays and the microfluidic channels are arranged so that a first fluid is extracted from the first microfluidic channel into the second microfluidic channel and a second fluid is extracted from the third microfluidic channel into the first microfluidic channel, and so that particles are transferred from the first fluid sample into the second fluid sample within the first microfluidic channel.

  • Patent number: 11020651
Abstract: The present steerable wheel assembly incorporates a lean-to-steer mechanism into an inner race of a roller bearing, while a wheel is mounted to an outer race of the roller bearing. A shaft extending from the mechanism is attached to a body, and the mechanism acts to steer the outer race and the wheel about a vertical steering axis when the shaft is tilted about a horizontal axis. The mechanism can be a pivot joint, providing a linear steering response, or can be a lean-to-steer mechanism that provides a non-linear response where the steering action is not consistently responsive to tilting over the expected range of tilting. The present non-linear lean-to-steer mechanisms can also be incorporated into alternative lean-to-steer devices, and alternative mechanisms can employ tracking structures to coordinate tilting motion of a first moving element with steering motion of a second moving element to provide a non-linear lean-to-steer response.

  • Publication number: 20210146464
Abstract: A cleaning material, device, and method for predictably cleaning the capillary tube for a wire bonding machine in which the cleaning pad has a predetermined configuration appropriate for the particular wire bonding machine and a substrate having a defined functionalized surface topology and geometry which can be introduced into the wire bonding machine during the normal wire bonding operations. The cleaning material has a predetermined topography with a plurality of functional 3-dimensional (3D) microstructures that provide performance characteristics which are not possible with a non-functionalized and flat surface.

  • Patent number: 11011368
Abstract: A microwave excited ultraviolet lamp system with a data logging and retrieval circuit and method for operating the same. The data logging and retrieval circuit stores operational data in a cache memory using a FIFO data storage protocol. The contents of the cache memory are periodically copied to a larger removable memory so that the removable memory contains a relatively long historical record of the system operational parameters. The data logging and retrieval circuit includes a data port configured to load the contents of the cache memory into an external device when the device is coupled to the data port. A second data port allows the external device to supply power to the data logging and retrieval circuit so that data may be retrieved when the internal power supply is malfunctioning. Data stored in the removable memory may be protected so that it may only be accessed by authorized personnel.

  • Publication number: 20210137553
Abstract: An apparatus includes a shaft assembly and an end effector. The shaft assembly includes a first coupling member and a second coupling member. The first coupling member and the second coupling member are configured to flex toward each other from a first position to a second position. The first coupling member and the second coupling member define a pivot axis in the first position. The end effector includes an ultrasonic blade and a clamp arm. The clamp arm is configured to couple or decouple with the shaft assembly when the first coupling member and the second coupling member are in the second position. The clamp arm is configured to pivot toward and away the ultrasonic blade about the pivot axis when the first coupling member and the second coupling member are in the first position.

  • Publication number: 20210137544
Abstract: A surgical instrument, has an end effector that includes an ultrasonic blade, and a clamp arm that moves relative to the ultrasonic blade from an opened position toward an intermediate position and a closed position. The clamp arm is offset from the ultrasonic blade to define a predetermined gap in the intermediate position between the opened position and the closed position. A clamp arm actuator connects to the clamp arm and moves from an opened configuration to a closed configuration to direct the clamp arm from the opened position toward the intermediate position and the closed position. A spacer connects with the clamp arm to inhibit movement of the clamp arm from the intermediate position toward the closed position for maintaining the predetermined gap between the clamp arm and the ultrasonic blade.

  • Publication number: 20210124971
Abstract: A digital display of an active window is provided. An application, separate from the application providing the digital display, is capable of identifying an artifact in the active window of the digital display without a priori knowledge or an application programming interface to the application providing the digital display. The artifacts may be alpha-numeric artifacts or non-alpha-numeric artifacts. The active window may be examined in multiple dimensions including 2 dimensions, 3 dimensions or more. Alpha-numeric artifacts, once identified, are pre-processed to remove anti-aliasing to allow for processor optical recognition.

  • Publication number: 20210125595
Abstract: Techniques have been developed to facilitate (1) the capture and pitch correction of vocal performances on handheld or other portable computing devices and (2) the mixing of such pitch-corrected vocal performances with backing tracks for audible rendering on targets that include such portable computing devices and as well as desktops, workstations, gaming stations, even telephony targets. Implementations of the described techniques employ signal processing techniques and allocations of system functionality that are suitable given the generally limited capabilities of such handheld or portable computing devices and that facilitate efficient encoding and communication of the pitch-corrected vocal performances (or precursors or derivatives thereof) via wireless and/or wired bandwidth-limited networks for rendering on portable computing devices or other targets.

  • Publication number: 20210123166
Abstract: Sliver containing cellulose acetate staple fibres is obtained that exhibits good fibre to fibre cohesion energy and can be successfully drawn and made into spun yarns. Such slivers can be made of cellulose acetate staple fibres that have of round shape, a denier of less than 3.0, a crimp frequency per inch (CPI) from 5 to 30, a good fibre to fibre coefficient of friction and have a low static charge. The textile fabrics made from spun yarns have plant-based renewable resources by containing the cellulose acetate staple fibres, and can exhibit a thermoplastic behaviour to impart better dimensional stability to a textile fabric. The low denier of the cellulose acetate fibres can impart a feel similar to that of cotton, yet can be successfully processed through carding machines to form cohesive slivers and retain their integrity throughout the drawing process, allowing them to be formed into spun yarns.

  • Publication number: 20210113826
Abstract: Described herein are pumps that linearly reciprocate to assist with circulating blood within the body of a patient. Red blood cell damage may be avoided or minimized by such linear pump movement. The linearly reciprocating movement may also generate a pulsatile pumping cycle that mimics the natural pumping cycle of the heart. The pumps may be configured to reside at various body locations. For example, the pumps may be situated within the right ventricle, the left ventricle, the ascending aorta, the descending aorta, the thoracic aorta, or the abdominal aorta. In some instances, the pump may reside outside the patient.

  • Patent number: 10977727
Abstract: A hosted web-accessible system, computer program and methods are provided for generating comprehensive vehicle trim and detailed equipment information for clients, including providing comparative estimation based on underlying information regarding a particular vehicle. Comprehensive original vehicle data is obtained from vehicle manufacturers via a vehicle source interface, the data including a unique vehicle identifier for each of one or more vehicles associated with the respective source. A vehicle information request with a vehicle identifier is received from a client, and comprehensive original vehicle data is identified based on the unique identifier and the identifier from the client request. A client response interface displays vehicle data from the identified set of comprehensive original vehicle data. Vehicle valuation may be obtained from third party evaluators according to the vehicle request and based on the original vehicle data.
