  • Patent number: 9439341
Abstract: A steering system and method is described for a vehicle having steerable front and rear wheels, and a steering input device for receiving manual steering input. Front and rear hydraulic steering devices may be coupled, respectively, to the front and rear wheels. Front and rear valve assemblies may be configured, respectively, to steer the front and rear wheels. In a manual steering mode, the front valve assembly may be disabled with respect to the front steering device, and the front hydraulic steering device may steer the front wheels based upon the manual steering input. In a rear steering assist mode, a rear steering command may be determined based upon the manual steering input, and the rear wheels steered based upon the rear steering command. In an automated steering mode, the front and rear wheels may be automatically steered based upon a target path of travel for the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 9415782
Abstract: A system for controlling locomotive compressors in a multiple locomotive consist to optimize compressor life, cold weather operation, and maintenance schedules. Each compressor is associated with a controller than can communicate via an interface to a network with the corresponding controllers of the other compressors that are also interfaced to the network. A lead compressor controller may then issue commands to the other compressor controller to more efficiently restore pressure to the system, to implement improved usage schedules, or to manage maintenance intervals to maximize usage of each compressor during periodic maintenance intervals.

  • Patent number: 9393945
Abstract: A parking brake control system positioned upstream of a rail car parking brake locking mechanism that prevents the parking brake from disengaging until the braking system recharges to a sufficient point that it can be used to maintain the train on a grade. The system includes a three way valve that reduces the brake pipe pilot pressure supplied to the parking brake unlocking system until the brake pipe pressure reaches a predetermined threshold. A release delay system may be coupled to the parking brake control system to retard the rate at which the parking brakes of rail cars positioned near the head of a train are released to ensure that the parking brakes of the entire train are released at about the same time.

  • Patent number: 9392841
Abstract: The disclosure relates to articles of footwear and components thereof, including outsoles, which can be used in conditions normally conducive to the accumulation of soil on the outsoles. In particular, the disclosure relates to articles of footwear and components thereof including an outsole with an external thermoplastic hydrogel film that compositionally includes polyamide block copolymer chains. The outsoles can prevent or reduce the accumulation of soil on the footwear during wear on unpaved surfaces such as sporting fields. When the outsoles are wetted with water, the outsoles can become more compliant and/or can rapidly uptake and/or expel water, which can prevent soil from adhering to the outsole and/or can assist in shedding soil present on the outsole.

  • Publication number: 20160200296
Abstract: A powered hand brake for locomotive brakes that latches a brake chain into a locked position after the brake cylinder has applied the locomotive brakes. A computer controlled brake system may be interconnected to the brake cylinder and the latch and programmed to set the latch into the latched position when the brake cylinder has moved the locomotive brake into the applied position. An actuator is coupled to the brake chain to take up slack in the brake chain as the brake chain moves between the first and second positions. The actuator can comprise a motor or a tensioning cylinder that takes up slack in the brake chain after the brakes have been applied. Alternatively, the actuator may comprise a linkage connecting the brake chain to the locomotive brake so that the slack in the brake chain is taken up as the brakes are applied.

  • Publication number: 20160192735
Abstract: The disclosure relates to articles of footwear and components thereof, including outsoles, which can be used in conditions normally conducive to the accumulation of soil on the outsoles. In particular, the disclosure relates to articles of footwear and components thereof including an outsole with an external hydrogel film that compositionally includes a crosslinked polymeric network having a plurality of copolymer chains with one or more hard segments physically crosslinked to other hard segments of the copolymer chains, and one or more hydrophilic soft segments covalently bonded to the hard segments.

  • Patent number: 9369543
Abstract: Synchronous and asynchronous communications between avatars is allowed. For synchronous communications, when multiple users are playing different games of the same game title and when the avatars of the multiple users are at the same location in their respective games they can communicate with one another, thus allowing the users of those avatars to communicate with one another. For asynchronous communications, an avatar of a particular user is left behind at a particular location in a game along with a recorded communication. When other users of other games are at that particular location, the avatar of that particular user is displayed and the recorded communication is presented to the other users.
