  • Patent number: 10859695
Abstract: Embodiments relate to noncontact determination of nonlinearities. Initially, a first and second primary signal are preconditioned to produce a first and second tone capable of reaching a target granular media. Using a sound source, the first and second primary signals are emitted such that the first and second primary signals combine in a nonlinear fashion in the target granular media to produce low frequency acoustic tone that is a difference between the first and primary signals. An acoustic pulse is received by an acoustic receiver, and a quadratic nonlinearity coefficient and an acoustic pressure field are determined based on the acoustic pulse. At this stage, a sediment shear strength of the granular media is correlated to the quadratic nonlinearity coefficient to generate a shear strength lookup table.

  • Publication number: 20200375092
Abstract: A method of autonomously controlling the ground speed of a harvester, such as a self-propelled or towed wind rower, uses both the engine speed and the header speed as control parameters to increase or decrease the ground speed as necessary to maintain efficient harvester operation over varying terrain and crop conditions. A control system includes a controller which receives signals from sensors indicative of engine speed, header speed and harvester ground speed and uses actuators to control the header speed, engine speed and harvester ground speed. An operator interface permits an operator to engage or disengage the autonomous mode of control system operation, as well as to directly control the harvester.

  • Publication number: 20200360070
Abstract: The portable cryosurgical device is economical, easy to use and operate, and delivers cryogenic material such as nitrous oxide and carbon dioxide gas in any direction or orientation. The delivered materials destroy target tissue using extremely cold temperatures and the abrasives formed when the cryogenic material becomes a solid. The device includes a portable countertop enclosure housing a cryogen source, a cryogen flow tube in fluid communication with the ciyogen source, and a flow path assembly. The flow path assembly includes a valve between the ciyogen source and the cryogen flow tube having substantially zero dead volume. The flow path assembly can include a quick-connect cryogen tank adapter and an in-line ciyogen filter. The flow path assembly delivers liquefied compressed gas from the cryogen source to a terminal end of the cryogen flow tube without a phase change occurring in the flow path.

  • Publication number: 20200337755
Abstract: A focused treatment tip (FTT) for controlling the evaporation rate and providing targeted delivery of low temperature liquified gases for contact with living tissue includes a contoured body. When filled with liquified gas, the device insulates the gas from waste heat sources, such as the surrounding environment. The device can control the evaporation rate of the liquified gas at the treatment site. The controlled evaporation rate affects the rate of heat transfer from the treated tissue allowing for controlled exposure times and desired outcomes. The device can be used with various application tips to further define the target tissue area to be treated while minimizing collateral damage to surrounding tissue and isolating the gas within the contoured body and focusing heat transfer to the desired treatment area. The device may use transparent materials that make the treatment visible to the operator while the liquified gas is evaporating.
