Abstract: The instant invention provides for compounds that inhibit the four known mammalian JAK kinases (JAK1, JAK2, JAK3 and TYK2) and PDK1. The invention also provides for compositions comprising such inhibitory compounds and methods of inhibiting the activity of JAK1, JAK2, JAK3, TYK2 and PDK1 by administering the compound to a patient in need of treatment for myeloproliferative disorders or cancer.

Abstract: A scooter type apparatus having a platform for supporting a person, wheels engaging the platform in rolling motion, a handlebar extending upwardly from the platform for stabilizing the person and for controlling rotational speed of two rearwardly positioned of the wheels, electrical clutches for each of the rear wheels, and an electrical circuit including a battery, a plurality of solar cells fixed to the platform and the handle bar, an electric motor and a motor speed control, including, dual operational amplifiers in a push-pull configuration, a tachometer for speed stabilizing, and a potentiometer input. The electrical circuit charges the battery and drives the rear wheels so that with both of the wheels driven in the same sense, the apparatus moves in a forward or rearward straight line, and with one of the clutches disengaged the apparatus is caused to turn left or right. The forward wheels are castors.

Abstract: A battery powered and portable transporter is especially suited for assisting the elderly by providing them with added mobility. The transporter is designed so the user can stand on its moving platform at about the same height as other pedestrians when being carried. Furthermore, the device can be folded into a configuration which can then be pulled along or even carried with ease when not in use. The transporter can be easily folded into compact form for storage in home, office or automobile.

Abstract: A 1.2 kb fragment of the 5' regulatory region (from bp -1107 to +100) was fused to the GUS (.beta.-glucuronidase) reporter gene and BN115-promoted GUS expression was observed in green tissues of transgenic Brassica napus plants only after incubation at 2.degree. C. No expression was observed after incubation at 22.degree. C., either in the presence or absence of abscisic acid. Microprojectile bombardment of winter B. napus leaves with a BN115 promoter/GUS construct yielded similar results and was used to analyze a series of deletions from the 5' end of the promoter. Results obtained from transient expression studies showed that the low temperature regulation of BN115 expression involves a possible enhancer region between bp -1107 and -606 and a second positive regulatory region located between bp -302 and -274.
