  • Publication number: 20040261910
Abstract: A forging alloy for manufacturing a golf club head is a stainless steel alloy including carbon 0.08-0.16 wt %, silicon <0.8 wt %, manganese <1.0 wt %, chromium 11.5-17.0 wt %, with the remaining portion being iron. When the forging temperature of the stainless steel alloy is below a transition temperature of a delta ferrite phase thereof, the stainless steel alloy can be subjected to warm forging in a smooth manner at a temperature of 720-960 ° C. and an operational force of 580-860 ton. Thus, a highly rust-resisting and highly wear-resistant golf club head can be manufactured.

  • Publication number: 20040185960
Abstract: A golf club head includes a club head body, a striking plate, and a bonding layer. The striking plate includes an engaging portion that is engaged with an engaging portion of the striking plate. One of the engaging portion of the striking plate and the engaging portion of the club head body includes at least one groove, and the other includes at least one protrusion. The bonding layer is applied between the engaging portion of the club head body and the engaging portion of the striking plate. The groove and the protrusion of the engaging portion of the club head body and the engaging portion of the striking plate increase a contact area between the club head body and the striking plate, thereby improving a bonding strength between the club head body and the striking plate.

  • Publication number: 20040166959
Abstract: An impact absorber for a golf club head. The impact absorber for a golf club head in the invention comprises a main body and a chamber. The main body comprises a striking plate, and the chamber is adapted to receive viscous damping liquid. Thereby, the damping liquid can absorb vibration and impact energy of the main body when striking a golf ball.

  • Patent number: 6776728
Abstract: A weight member for a golf club head is made of a WFeNi alloy by a precision casting process. The WFeNi alloy includes wt 15%-40% of iron, wt 30%-60% of nickel, wt 15%-30% of tungsten, wt 1.5%-10.0% of chromium, and wt 0.5%-5.0% of molybdenum. Chromium improves the rust-resisting property of the weight member. Molybdenum reduces the risk of cracks in the weight member during welding. Uniformity of shining finishing of the weight member can be improved by controlling a mixture ratio of nickel to tungsten. Manganese, copper, vanadium, and niobium may be added to improve the mechanical properties of the weight member.

  • Publication number: 20040144453
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a striking plate of a golf club head includes the steps of soft heat-treating a flat metal blank to increase its malleability, stamping out a striking plate with an integral wall and a bend portion from the flat metal blank, precise machining the striking plate, and age hardening the striking plate to precipitation harden it and improve its mechanical properties after it has been joined to a main body of the golf club head.

  • Patent number: 6758764
Abstract: A weight member for a golf club head is made of a WFeNi alloy by a precision casting process. The WFeNi alloy includes nickel 30-60 wt %, tungsten 15-30 wt %, chromium 1.5-10.0 wt %, and iron that is the remaining portion. Chromium improves the rust resisting property of the weight member and lengthens the life of the weight member. Uniformity of shining finishing of the weight member can be improved by controlling a mixture ratio of nickel to tungsten. Silicon may be added to improve the flowability of the molten metal. Manganese, copper, vanadium, and niobium may be added to improve the mechanical properties of the weight member.
