  • Patent number: 9143461
Abstract: Disclosed is a technique for enabling a device that needs to send high priority and high bandwidth user plane traffic to send the user plane traffic even in the case where a group bandwidth has an upper limit in group-based communication. According to the technique, when an MTC device that is to send high priority and high bandwidth user plane traffic sends a service request to a network node (P-GW 213a), the network node allows use of a minimum bandwidth bearer in the case where the upper limit of the group bandwidth is exceeded. The MTC device sends a traffic sending request to an MTC server 214a via the bearer. The MTC server stops traffic of an appropriate other MTC device, to secure a bandwidth for the MTC device having the high priority and high bandwidth user plane traffic.

  • Patent number: 9121924
Abstract: Conventional position estimation methods require the deployment of more fixed anchors in order to increase the accuracy in a crowded indoor environment, or they suffer from inaccuracies due to multipath fading. The present invention overcomes the problems associated with the prior arts by selecting one or more mobile nodes as virtual anchors when estimating the position of a target mobile node. This takes advantage of the fact that mobile nodes are closer to the target mobile node than the access points in most typical deployments, thus eliminating the need to deploy more access points or fixed anchors for the purpose of position determination. After obtaining an initial estimate of the position of the target mobile node, the target mobile node can serve as virtual anchors to estimate the positions of other mobile nodes, which can then be used to further refine the position estimate of the target mobile node.

  • Patent number: 8934455
Abstract: Disclosed is a technique allowing a communication terminal, even after a handover between different types of networks, to determine whether a communication that was in progress in an access network connected before the handover can be resumed or not. In order to receive an incoming CS call during a connection to a PS domain (E-UTRAN 101), a user terminal (UE 100) has to connect to a CS domain (UTRAN 102). When the UE has a LIPA (local IP address) in the PS domain, for example, the UE may not continue LIPA traffic in the CS domain after the CS call. In the present invention, a network performs buffering of LIPA traffic for certain duration, for example, and informs the UE of this condition, whereby the UE can securely determine whether the LIPA traffic is still kept after the CS call.

  • Patent number: 8879504
Abstract: Disclosed is a technique to eliminate wasted tunneling encapsulation processing during redirection of a packet. According to the technique, when a packet of a first connection passing through a local mobility anchor (“LMA”) 111 and a mobile access gateway (“MAG”) 121 using a first prefix of an interface 131 of a mobile node (“MN”) 130 is redirected to a second connection passing through a LMA 112 and a MAG 122 using a second prefix of an interface 132 of the MN 130, a redirection tunnel T1 is established between the LMA 111 and the LMA 112. When the MAG 122 knows the first prefix, the LMA 112 encapsulates a packet addressed to the first prefix that is redirected via the tunnel T to be addressed to the MAG 122 for transferring.

  • Patent number: 8774039
Abstract: Disclosed is a technique for enabling a mobile terminal, which is capable of using a plurality of communication routes for communication with a correspondent node, to select an appropriate communication route to communicate with the correspondent node. According to the technique, the mobile terminal (UE/MN 313B) requests a predetermined network node (P-GW 317) to detect whether or not the correspondent node (CN 318B) exists in the same domain. The P-GW monitors a packet sent from the CN to the UE/MN and, when detecting the packet, determines whether or not the CN exists in the same domain. In the case of determining that the CN exists in the same domain, the P-GW reports information that the CN exists in the same domain, to the UE/MN. The UE/MN selects an interface used for communicating with the CN, based on the reported determination result.

  • Patent number: 8676202
Abstract: A technique is disclosed, according to which a race condition between a PMIPv6 binding by a PBU message of PMIPv6 and a CMIPv6 binding by a BU message of CMIPv6 can be resolved. MN 200 has a plurality of radio communication interfaces, and a first interface is connected to MAG 220 of a home PMIPv6 domain 230, for instance. In case the connection of a second interface is changed from MAG 221 of a home PMIPv6 domain to AR 222 of a CMIPv6 domain 231, a BU message 262 is transmitted from the second interface to LMA/HA 250, and identification information of this BU message is notified to MAG from the first interface. By adding time information to this identification information and by transmitting it to LMA/HA, MAG can identify transmission time of the BU message (i.e. relative order with the other messages) from this time information.

  • Patent number: 8666414
Abstract: Disclosed is a technique for reducing delay when a mobile communication terminal starts communication and reducing consumption of a power resource of the mobile communication terminal. An MN (mobile node) (1012) has plural interfaces (IF-1 (1030) and IF-2 (1028)). One interface IF-1 is connected to a connection point (serving PoA (1008)). When switching over from communication using the IF-1 to communication using the IF-2, the MN transmits a paging request message via the IF-1 and the serving PoA to a connection point (target PoA (1010)) attempted to connect using the IF-2. The target PoA that has received the paging request message reduces a beacon transmission cycle and sets transmission slots for the MN so that the connection of the MN can be established efficiently.

  • Publication number: 20140036873
Abstract: With the deployment of the Mobile Routers, some of the mobile devices would access the IP services, e.g. Remote Local IP Access (LIPA), via the local connections provided by the Mobile Router. In such cases, the mobile devices may be detached from the 3GPP access, and thus lose the capability of receiving certain services, e.g. CS domain related services. This invention presented a solution to allow the mobile device to continue enjoying the services provided via 3GPP access by placing the mobile device into a special state and binding Mobile Router's context with the mobile device's context. In this way, the mobile operator's core network would be able to trigger the mobile device to receive the CS service even its 3GPP access connections are removed.

  • Patent number: 8619629
Abstract: Disclosed is a technique for surely supporting multihoming for a mobile terminal (mobile node) moving in a local mobility domain. A mobile node (MN) 11 connects via an IF 110 to a mobile access gateway (MAG) 102 that supports multihoming, and further attempts to connect via an IF 111 to a MAG 103 that does not support multihoming. Under these conditions, according to this technique, when the MN recognizes that the MAG 103 does not support multihoming, the MN notifies a local mobility domain that the MAG 103 does not support multihoming if connection with the MAG 103 is not yet established, and notifies the local mobility domain of information on a connection to a local mobility domain other than the MAG 103 (connection with the MAG 102) if the connection with the MAG 103 is already established.

  • Patent number: 8539554
Abstract: Disclosed is a technique capable of proper execution of access control based on various security policies set by a home user with regards to a packet sent from a visitor node. According to the technique, a MR (Mobile Router) 10 which manages a mobile PAN 30 determines whether a sender of a packet from a communication terminal connected to the mobile PAN is a home user's node which is allowed direct access into a home network or a visitor node (VN 31), and forwards the packet from the home user's node to an HA 20 while forwarding the packet from the visitor node to a policy server 36 located in a DMZ 35. This allows the policy server to perform access control on every packet from a visitor node which attempts to gain access into the home network based on a security policy 36a.
