  • Patent number: 10492071
Abstract: A system and device for determining authenticity of a client device transmitting a request to access a network that includes an authenticator to adjust authentication parameters for authentication requests to access a network from a client device, and access switches positioned within the authentication, each of the plurality of switches having an associated port for receiving the authentication requests. The authenticator monitors authentication requests received from the client device, determines whether a number of the monitored authentication requests that are failed authentication requests, and determines mobility of the client device during the monitored authentication requests. Authenticity of the client device is determined based on one of the determined number of failed authentication requests and the determined mobility of the client device.

  • Patent number: 10488905
Abstract: A computing device has an energy storage device system with multiple energy storage devices. Various different criteria are used to determine which one or more of the multiple energy storage devices to discharge at any given time to provide power to the computing device. The criteria can include characteristics of the energy storage devices as well as hardware and/or physical characteristics of the computing device, characteristics of the energy storage devices and/or the computing device that change while the computing device operates, and predicted behavior or usage of the computing device. These criteria are evaluated during operation of the computing device, and the appropriate energy storage device(s) from which to draw power at any given time based on these criteria are determined.

  • Patent number: 10487791
Abstract: An electric starter system is usable with a powertrain having an engine with a flywheel. The starter system includes a brushless starter motor having a machine temperature, and a solenoid operable for translating a pinion gear into meshed engagement with the flywheel and the starter motor in response to a requested engine start event. A controller has temperature regulation logic that includes a proportional-integral torque control loop. Execution of a method embodied by the logic, in response to the requested engine start event when the machine temperature exceeds a first temperature, causes the controller to determine a required starting torque of the starter motor using the control loop. The controller causes the starter motor to transmit the required starting torque to the engine at a level that reduces the machine temperature below the first temperature.

  • Patent number: 10488089
Abstract: A cooling system includes an expansion valve configured to exert a first pressure drop on refrigerant circulated through the cooling system. The cooling system also includes a plurality of capillary expansion tubes fluidly coupled in parallel to an output of the expansion valve and configured to exert a second pressure drop on the refrigerant circulated through the cooling system. The cooling system also includes a controller communicatively coupled to the expansion valve, wherein the controller is configured to control magnitude of the first pressure drop by instructing the expansion valve to adjust the valve position based at least in part on refrigerant mass flow expected to be supplied to the expansion valve to facilitate substantially uniformly distributing the refrigerant mass flow between each of the plurality capillary expansion tubes.

  • Patent number: 10492172
Abstract: A network node may identify a location to be allocated for a multicast message within a transmission subframe based on at least information identifying the transmission subframe, and then transmit the multicast message at the identified location in the transmission subframe. A network node may also identify a transmission subframe in which to transmit a multicast message, allocate transmission resources in the transmission subframe for the multicast message, and transmit information indicating a location of the allocated transmission resources in the transmission subframe in a control signal message having a transmission power adjusted based on at least one of information identifying the transmission subframe and a code redundancy version of the multicast message.

  • Publication number: 20190354592
Abstract: A novel system and multi-device invention that provide a means to communicate in real-time (conversationally) between two or more individuals, regardless of each individual's preferred or limited mode of transmission or receipt (by gesture, by voice—in Mandarin to German to Farsi, by text in any major language, and via machine learning, eventually by dialect). Systems and methods for conversational communication between two individuals using multiple language modes (e.g. visual language and verbal language) through the use of a worn device (for hands-free language input capability) are provided. Information may be stored in memory regarding user preferences, as well as various language databases—visual to verbal to textural- or the system can determine and adapt to user (primary and second) preferences and modes based on direct input, and adapt.

  • Publication number: 20190353564
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure are directed to apparatuses and methods involving particulate sampling. As may be consistent with one or more embodiments, an apparatus includes a flow direction structure, a flow sampler and a particle collector having a collecting surface. The flow direction structure has interior sidewalls that direct the flow of particulate-laden gas along a flow path. The flow sampler is located in the flow path within the interior sidewalls, and operates with the flow direction structure to sample a portion of the particulate-laden gas at a reduced velocity, while allowing another portion of the particulate-laden gas to exhaust around the flow sampler. The flow sampler operates with the particle collector to direct the sampled portion of the particulate-laden gas to the collecting surface, and to adhere particulates from the particulate-laden gas to the collecting surface.

  • Publication number: 20190357167
Abstract: A Node-B sends a polling message to a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). The WTRU sends an uplink synchronization burst in response to the polling message without contention. The Node-B estimates an uplink timing shift based on the synchronization burst and sends an uplink timing adjustment command to the WTRU. The WTRU then adjusts uplink timing based on the uplink timing adjustment command. Alternatively, the Node-B may send a scheduling message for uplink synchronization to the WTRU. The WTRU may send a synchronization burst based on the scheduling message. Alternatively, the WTRU may perform contention-based uplink synchronization after receiving a synchronization request from the Node-B. The WTRU may enter an idle state instead of performing a handover to a new cell when the WTRU moves to the new cell. A discontinuous reception (DRX) interval for the WTRU may be set based on activity of the WTRU.

  • Publication number: 20190357123
Abstract: Systems and methods of providing communications between UEs are generally described. A notification resource indicating subsequent transmission of a discovery message is transmitted from a UE to another UE using a discovery ID selected from a limited number of discovery IDs stored in the other UE. The other UE transmits a random access request to the UE having a temporary ID. The UE may not respond if the temporary ID is already used or may transmit data transmission information scrambled by the temporary ID. The other UE transmits a contention resolution PDU to the UE and may receive an ACK to indicate ID contention is not present, or either no response or a NACK to indicate the presence of ID contention. The other UE may either select a new temporary ID or use a backoff timer to retransmit the random access request at a random time.
