Abstract: A method and an apparatus for providing a picture file are provided. The picture file providing apparatus includes a controller which searches for one or more picture files based on a location of a subject, and a screen display unit which forms a display screen to display the one or more picture files that were found, in order to provide a user with the direction information included in each picture file. Each picture file includes picture data, information on a location in which the picture data was created, and information on a direction of a captured image of a subject included in the picture data.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for identifying a neighboring device are provided. The method of identifying a neighboring device, which is performed in a user terminal, includes: obtaining identification information and location information of a plurality of neighboring devices that can wirelessly communicate with the user terminal; extracting the identification information of one of the neighboring devices, the neighboring device being in the actual location range within the field of vision of the user terminal; and using the extracted identification information to request that the neighboring device perform wireless communication with the user terminal. According to the method and apparatus, identification information of a neighboring device with which a user terminal desires to perform wireless communication can be obtained using a viewfinder or liquid crystal display of the user terminal.

The data recording and reproducing apparatus includes: a signal processor capturing images, processing the captured images to generate image data, and generating an image file that includes the image data; a speech recognition unit recognizing speech and converting the speech into text data; and a controller using the text data to generate metadata and adding the metadata to the image file. Accordingly, at a time when images are recorded, metadata is generated as management information corresponding to image contents by using an image contents recording apparatus. Therefore, reliable metadata corresponding to the image contents can be generated.

Accordingly, the user can more easily input Korean vowels.

Abstract: An electronic program guide display apparatus and method are provided. The electronic program guide display apparatus includes: a program information receiving unit which receives program information about electronic program guide organization programs from a broadcast station; a program information database which stores the received program information; a mode information input unit which receives mode information from a user; a day information input unit which receives day information from a user; a program cell display unit which extracts program information corresponding to a mode which the mode information indicates and a day which the day information indicates, from the program information in the database, and displays the extracted program information as cells having a uniform format, regardless of a predetermined characteristic of the program information.
