  • Publication number: 20190176962
Abstract: A methodology for designing spoilers or droop panels and aerodynamic systems including the designed spoilers or the designed droop panels are described. In one embodiment, the spoilers and the droop panels can be deployed on a wing with a flap system which provides for trailing edge variable camber (TEVC) system. During flight, the fixed portions of the wing, the flaps, the spoilers and droop panels can all deform. The spoilers or the droop panels can each be pre-deformed to a first shape on the ground such that in flight the spoilers or the droop panels deform to a second shape under aerodynamic loads. In the second shape, the spoilers or the droop panels are configured to seal better against the flaps. The spoilers or the droop panels can be configured to seal to the flaps during all of the positions the flaps take as part of the TEVC system.

  • Publication number: 20180279755
Abstract: An interdental brush has a handle with a helix style shape, as well as sections of long and short bristles to maximize plaque removal. The handle has a first end, a second end and a length between the first and second ends. The handle defines a longitudinal axis extending through the handle along the length. A brush extends from the handle and includes a stem projecting along the longitudinal axis and a set of bristles extending laterally outwardly from the stem. Each of the bristles has a bristle length from the stem to a bristle tip, the bristle tips collectively defining a bristle profile. In one embodiment, the bristle profile alternates along the stem between valley sections of short bristle length and mountain sections of long bristle length. The handle includes a grip portion along the length, and the grip portion is shaped such that it is twisted about the longitudinal axis in the manner of a helix.

  • Publication number: 20170348402
Abstract: It has been established that bacterial hybrid vectors including prokaryote cells modified by the addition of cationic polymers to the outer surface of the cell can selectively deliver exogenous cargos, such as nucleic acids, polypeptides and small molecules to an eukaryotic cell, such as an antigen presenting cell. Compositions and methods for the delivery and expression of nucleic acids and polypeptides to eukaryotic cells are described. The bacterial hybrid vectors include one or more cationic polymers that enhance uptake by antigen presenting cells. The hybrid bacterial vectors include expression vectors that express one or more factors to enhance lysosomal escape and cytosolic delivery of cargo. The vectors are useful as adjuvants to stimulate and/or induce immune responses to any desired antigen, to develop a protective immune response in a subject.

  • Publication number: 20170306349
Abstract: The present disclosure includes the production of a mutant plant resistant to an herbicide of the phosphonomethylglycine family, e.g. glyphosate. Compositions and methods are provided for editing a nucleotide sequence of interest in a cell employing a guide polynucleotide/Cas endonuclease system, wherein the Cas endonuclease is guided by a guide polynucleotide to recognize and optionally introduce a double strand break at a specific target site into the genome of a cell. The nucleotide sequence of interest to be edited can be located within or outside the target site that is recognized by a Cas endonuclease. More specifically, compositions and methods are provided for editing an enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase (EPSPS) nucleotide sequence in a cell. The methods and compositions employ a guide polynucleotide/Cas endonuclease system to provide for an effective system for editing EPSPS nucleotide sequences of within the genome of a cell.
