  • Publication number: 20140065107
Abstract: One aspect of the present disclosure relates to a method for modulating uterine function in a mammal. One step of the method includes placing a therapy delivery device into direct contact with a spinal cord target associated with uterine function. Next, the therapy delivery device is activated to deliver a therapy signal to the spinal cord target in an amount and for a time sufficient to effect a change in sympathetic and/or parasympathetic activity in the mammal and thereby modulate uterine function.

  • Publication number: 20100015160
Abstract: Although TF is expressed on perivascular cells of normal tissues and in the adventitial layer of blood vessels, these cells are sequestered from contact with circulating fVII by the tight endothelial cell layer of the normal vasculature. Therefore, differential expression of TF by endometriotic tissue makes it a specific target for inhibiting or treating endometriosis. Similarly, overexpression of PAR-2 by endometrial tissue in women with endometriosis makes it a target for inhibiting or treating endometriosis. In one embodiment, interference with binding of fVII to TF or of the TF/fVIIa to PAR-2 is accomplished by providing one or more antagonists that reduce or inhibit binding of these proteins as described above. In another embodiment, the catalytic activity of PAR-2 or the TF/fVIIa complex is inhibited by providing one or more antagonists as disclosed above.

  • Publication number: 20070073430
Abstract: Embodiments of a method of optimally scheduling, in near real-time, workunits for processing on processing stations in a processing system, while accounting for constraints such as processing station qualifications by workunit type and service type, and to meet certain business objectives such as cycle time and demand targets, are described. A method of scheduling the processing of workunits in a processing system comprises defining a plurality of workunits, aggregating the work units by workunit type and service to be performed on each workunit to define one or more workunit type-service type groupings. The method further allocates capacity of one or more processing stations to workunit type-service type groupings, assigns workunits of the plurality of workunits to meet the allocated capacity, and sequences the workunit type-service type groupings and workunits on each processing station of the one or more processing stations. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

  • Patent number: 5290210
Abstract: Step exercise apparatus primarily intended for use in an aquatic environment such as a pool or the like. The apparatus includes a step platform maintained in elevated relation above a foundation surface by a pair of support members. The apparatus has a specific gravity greater than one so as to sink within a body of water, and slots extend through the platform to prevent entrapment of air bubbles when the platform is placed in a pool. Handles in the sides and ends of the apparatus assist the user in manipulating the apparatus while exercising in the water. Removable extension feet selectively increase the step distance between the platform and the pool bottom or other foundation surface on which the apparatus rests.

  • Patent number: 4779170
Abstract: An illumination device (10) for a phonograph record (18) has a housing (14) and bolts (22) for attaching the housing (14) to a phonograph tone arm (12). A battery (26) in the housing (14) and a contact switch (32) on the housing are connected to activate a timing circuit (28) for supplying current from the battery (26) to a light emitting diode (30). The light emitting diode (30) is positioned to illuminate an area around point (36) that stylus (20) contacts the record for a predetermined of time after the contact switch (32) is closed.
