  • Patent number: 7580531
Abstract: An audio amplifier is provided having a compressor with an automatically-adjustable compressor. Compression is linked to the volume control in an inverse relationship whereby, when the volume is reduced, the compression ratio is increased to boost the listening level of quieter passages in the source material. Conversely, when the volume is increased, the compression ratio is decreased. The compression control may be physically connected to the volume control, such as in a dual-potentiometer, or may be coupled electronically, such as with a digital signal processor. An effects level control may be included to allow a listener to increase or decrease the effect of the compression by applying a multiplier to the compression ratio. An ambient noise detector may also be included such that compression is increased as ambient noise increases or exceeds a predetermined level.

  • Publication number: 20090177293
Abstract: A method for negotiating a purchase price for an assembled good to be delivered to a purchaser is disclosed. In one embodiment, the method includes storing a value representing an estimated number of assembled goods desired for delivery in a particular time period, and using a computer program to estimate an optimal number of setups per the time period and an optimal order quantity per setup, based on the value and other stored information, and based on automatic calculations by the computer program. The method further includes automatically estimating an optimal should-cost purchase price for the assembled good based on the value, the estimated optimal number of setups, and the estimated optimal order quantity, and using the estimated optimal should-cost purchase price to negotiate a final purchase price for the assembled good.

  • Publication number: 20080301941
Abstract: The subject invention provides a method of manufacturing an all-metal cold plate heat exchanger assembly for removing excess heat from a heat generating electronic component. The cold plate assembly includes a base plate having micro-channels and associated micro-fins, a manifold plate having alternating channels, and a manifold cover, wherein the manifold plate cooperates with the micro-channels to form an engineered pathway for coolant flow. This method assures a tight interface sealing between the contact surfaces of the alternating channels of the manifold plate and the coplanar surfaces of the micro-fins that would prevent coolant by-pass flow, but without clogging or jeopardizing the flow through the micro-channels. This method utilizes a layer of recast metallic particulates, which is a natural by-product of laser machining, as a compliant gasket material between the coplanar edges of the alternating channels and the coplanar edges of the micro-fins.

  • Publication number: 20080229580
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of making a brazed micro-channel cold plate assembly for cooling a heat producing electronic component. The primary components of a cold plate assembly are a base plate, a manifold cover, and inlet/outlet pipes; wherein the individual components are assembled and brazed into an integral unit. The joining surfaces of the individual components have novel features that provide for permanent bonding of the joints by brazing and a hermetic seal along the joint seams. The novel features also forestall excess braze alloy from contaminating the interior surfaces of the assembled cold plate and obstructing the engineered flow channels.

  • Publication number: 20080163347
Abstract: A method is disclosed for managing access rights. The method generates a record associated with a change in a status for an individual and sends notification of the change in status to a first entity. The method also determines, by the first entity, if there is to be a change in one or more access levels associated with the individual. The method further sends notification to a second entity if the first entity determines that there is to be a change in the one or more access levels. In addition, the method changes, by the second entity, the one or more access levels.

  • Patent number: 7351468
Abstract: This invention relates to thermoplastic interlayers for laminated safety glass with superior vacuum de-airing at elevated temperatures and superior tacking and edge sealing properties. The sheeting has surface pattern on at least one of the surfaces characterized by flat surfaces with substantially uninterrupted channels for airflow in at least two non-parallel directions. The channels allow for rapid de-airing while the area roughness parameter ratio ARp/ARt in the range of 0.52 to 0.62, ARt being less than 32 ?m, and area kurtosis less than 2.5, allow for ease of tacking of the interlayer onto glass and edge sealing after de-airing has been completed. Said surface pattern may also be superimposed onto a pattern which is generated by melt fracture or other means on at least one side to enhance de-airing and aid edge sealing.

  • Publication number: 20080059381
Abstract: A method for negotiating a purchase price for an assembled good includes providing, by a purchaser, should-cost values associated with the assembled good into a first version of a first data structure, thereby creating a first file. The method additionally includes providing a second version of the first data structure to a seller. The second version of the first data structure has input portions permitting the seller to input seller should-cost values that include a cost rate value indicating a cost rate for performing an operation associated with the assembled good, and one or more time values indicating a time required for performing the operation. The method further includes receiving a second file having seller should-cost values provided into the second version of the first data structure by the seller. A forum is provided for negotiating a selling price for the assembled good based on at least the second file.

  • Publication number: 20070184541
Abstract: An improved method for processing corn into ethanol and other valuable co-products. The invention generally involves a multi-step process which produces germ (or oil), protein, and feed yeast as its co-products while maintaining or enhancing the provision of fermentable sugar to ethanol fermentation. This is accomplished by fundamentally altering the way the corn is fractionated, disrupting the cell walls rather than the protein matrix as is done in conventional wet milling.

  • Patent number: RE41071
Abstract: Systems and methods for arranging records in search results to be provided in response to a data inquiry of a database. After search results including records are received, a determination is made with respect to the order of the records in the search results. This determination may be based on various factors such as the destination of the search results, the preferred status of certain records over other records, a marketing determination with respect to the records, a frequency determination with respect to the number of times that a record or records may have already been provided in response to data inquiries, a weighting factor determination or a combination of one or more of these factors. In response to the determination of the order of the records in the search results, the records then are arranged into ordered records based on the determination.
