  • Publication number: 20060183373
Abstract: An apparatus includes a pair of connectors, two or more conductive paths formed in each connector in the pair of connectors, and a shroud encompassing at least a portion of the pair of connectors. The pair of connectors includes a first connector and a second connector. The first connector is substantially more flexible than the second connector, and each connector in the pair of connectors includes a bulkhead. Each of the two or more conductive paths in each connector in the pair of connectors is electrically isolated from all other conductive elements in the pair of connectors. • Patent number: 7043587
Abstract: A method and system for controlling the addition of a USB device to a host computer system via a hardware hot plug detector that monitors USB ports. The differential signal lines connecting to the USB device are logically OR'ed together, such that logically high D+ or D? signals from the USB device signal a central processing unit's (CPU) system management interrupt (SMI) line to initiate system management mode (SMM). Entering SMM transfers control of the host computer system to an SMI Interrupt Handler BIOS, which resides in the SMM address space of the hose computer system. The SMM BIOS is loaded into the SMM address space during Power On Self Test (POST) and is secured prior to booting the Operating System (OS). The SMM BIOS code contains instructions as to whether or not the connected USB device should be made visible to the operating system of the computer.

  • Publication number: 20050202720
Abstract: A hermetic pressure connector which provides a pressure-tight, electrically conductive connection through a hole in a bulkhead. The connector includes a transverse support member having a high pressure side and an opposite low pressure side. A passage extends through the transverse support member between the opposite sides. A conductor pin having an axial portion extends through the passage. An insulating sleeve surrounds at least the axial portion of the conductor pin, thereby electrically insulating the transverse support member from the conductor pin. A molded connected body surrounds at least a central portion of the conductor pin at least at one of the high and low pressure sides to thereby mechanically support the conductor pin in the passage. The molded connector body is directly sealingly engaged with the conductor pin, the insulating sleeve and the transverse support member.

  • Patent number: 6658972
Abstract: A first given pressure is provided to a first side of an air pressure cylinder that in turn drives a cutting member under the influence of the first given pressure. A second given pressure is provided to a second side of the air pressure cylinder that is greater than the first given pressure during a non-cutting state of the air cylinder. The cutting member remains stationary as long as the second given pressure is greater than the first given pressure. To transition to a cutting state, the second given pressure is rapidly reduced to a value below the first given pressure value during a cutting state of the air pressure cylinder for moving the cutting member to cut a web.

  • Publication number: 20030080143
Abstract: A method for depositing a volume of fluid relative to a surface to produce a droplet relative to the surface comprising the steps of forming a bolus of liquid relative to a dispensing member, causing the bolus of liquid to make contact with a surface thereby forming a bridge of liquid between the dispensing member and the surface, and retracting only a portion of the bolus of liquid to break the bridge of liquid between the dispensing member and the surface thereby depositing a droplet on the surface. A volume of a droplet can be adjusted by forming a bridge of liquid between a dispensing member and a surface that includes an initial droplet and breaking the bridge of liquid while leaving a remaining droplet of a different volume than the initial droplet.

  • Publication number: 20030074431
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for automatically switching remote shared devices in a dense server environment. A device driver in a server blade may be configured to receive a request to access a shared device from the server blade and issue a query to a service processor as to whether the requested shared device is being accessed. If the requested shared device is not being accessed by the requesting server blade, then the device driver may wait to receive a response from the service processor indicating that the requested shared device is available. Once the requested shared device is available, the service processor may connect the requested shared device with the requesting server blade. The request to access the requested shared device may then be transferred to the requested shared device by the device driver.

  • Patent number: 6377842
Abstract: A fiber optic based probe has been designed to sample the fluorescence or phosphorescence signal from animal or human tissues, such that the light intensity is not multiply scattered. This type of measurement allows a linear detection of the concentration of the luminescent compound non-invasively from the tissue. The basic principle of the fiber probe is to use fiber optics which are smaller in diameter that the average scattering length of the tissue. In order to increase the detected signal to a stronger level, multiple fibers are used by spacing them out on the surface of the tissue so that each fiber samples an isolated section of tissue. Each fiber delivers the excitation light to the tissue, and receives the emission light from the tissue. All fibers are coupled into the same detector to integrate the overall signal. Sampling of the scattered excitation signal intensity is also done to correct for changes in the scattering coefficient between tissues.

  • Patent number: 6302019
Abstract: A method and apparatus for adjusting skew settings in a dampener in a printing press. One or more skew adjustment linkages connect skew adjustment rods for the upper and lower dampeners of each printing unit. The linkage ensures that a single movement by the operator will allow adjustment of the skewing of both the upper and lower dampeners at the same time. The linkage or linkages are preferably connected at one end to skew adjustment brackets, which in turn are connected to a skew adjustment rod for one of the upper or lower dampeners. The skew adjustment rod adjusts the amount of skew of associated pan rolls. Movement of the linkage may be controlled by movement of a spring plunger, which is connected to the linkage or linkages. The spring plunger may be spring biased, and may be adjusted and locked into different skew setting positions using a pinhole arrangement.

  • Patent number: 6164201
Abstract: The present invention is directed to providing apparatus and methods for lateral position control using a web guide which detects a relative lateral shift of a web upstream of a control device. Error correction is thereby implemented using a phase advance rather than a phase lag. The lateral displacement control can be implemented continuously, or can be activated at certain times (e.g., when a new roll is spliced to an old roll, or when disturbances enter the system). The invention eliminates wasted time and wasted paper, by eliminating misalignment of a web with respect to a printing unit.

  • Patent number: 6076343
Abstract: A harvester especially for grape harvesting that has a picking head which includes a support frame and picking rods of fingers to contact the leaves and stems in the canopy of a grape vine to thereby shake the vines to remove grapes. The picking head includes one or more oscillation aims pivotably connected to the support frame on a respective pivot axis to allow oscillation about the respective pivot axis. The oscillation arms are pivotably connected with a respective picking rod or ringer support by a connection, so that the respective picking rod support is driven by the oscillation arm to oscillate in a picking direction. An oscillation flywheel is mounted on the oscillation are to impart an oscillating moment on the oscillation arm and the oscillation flywheel connected solely with the one or each of the oscillation arms.

  • Patent number: 5947411
Abstract: The present invention is directed to introducing air into a web interface of a former board without using holes or internal passageways in the forming bar. Exemplary embodiments achieve an even distribution of air on a surface of the former board which allows a minimum air gap to be achieved between the former board surface and the moving web. As such, damage to the moving web, and wear of the former board are reduced and/or eliminated. Therefore, the former board can be used to introduce a fold into the web without creating significant contact between the former board and the web.
