  • Patent number: 4822454
Abstract: This invention relates to the removal of soil from paper machine forming fabrics. More particularly, this invention is directed to a method and apparatus for removing contaminants from forming fabric in a papermaking machine wherein the forming fabric moves in a longitudinal direction, the apparatus includes a set of bristles having upper and lower ends and arranged above the forming fabric, the lower ends of the bristles being in contact with the upper surface of the forming fabric and the upper ends of the bristles being engaged by a bristle holder, the bristle holder being supported by a support device and the bristles being comprised of a lower surface energy material oleophilic to polyester at a water/oil interface.

  • Patent number: 4127560
Abstract: A melt processable resorcinol phthalate polyester having a terephthalic acid content not greater than about 30 mole percent is prepared by a two-stage process utilizing an alkali or alkaline earth metal acetate catalyst. The first stage yields a non-volatile pre-polymer which is then melt polymerized to the resorcinol phthalate polyester. A process for preparing a melt processable resorcinol phthalate polyester from resorcinol by reacting it with an acetylating agent is also disclosed. The resulting polyester exhibits high char and low flammability in addition to being melt processable.

  • Patent number: 4042561
Abstract: Normally flammable synthetic polymers selected from the group consisting of polyester resins, polyamide resins, cellulosic resins, polyolefins and their substituted derivatives, vinyl aryl compounds, polycarbonate resins, polyurethane resins and mixtures of the foregoing are rendered flame retardant by incorporating therein a flame retardant amount of polyphosphazene having the general formula: ##STR1## WHERE N IS AT LEAST 10, R and R' may be the same or different and represent aryl groups, y and y' may be the same or different and represent halogen and halogen substituted and unsubstituted lower alkyl (e.g., 1 to 10 carbon atoms), aryl, alkoxy, and aryloxy groups, and m = 0 to 10.

  • Patent number: 4000976
Abstract: Apparatus for diluting, replicating and establishing standards of chemical samples in sample trays, which samples are automatically prepared from specimen material in specimen trays. The apparatus processes a plurality of specimen trays, and prepares samples therefrom, depositing these samples in a pluraity of sample trays. The specimen trays and the sample trays are automatically transported to a station where sample preparation, dilution, and replication is carried out according to predetermined instructions stored in the apparatus. The various trays may be uniquely coded for identification.
