  • Publication number: 20190336725
Abstract: A crush and kink resilient tubing system for an infusion system. The tubing system has an inner sheath with an inner wall forming a passageway for an infusion fluid, and an outer sheath surrounding the inner sheath, wherein the inner sheath material which has a structural rigidity greater than a structural rigidity of the material of the outer sheath, such that a neutral strain line is formed closer to the tube's inner wall than to its outer wall. This combination of materials characteristics and relative thicknesses provides autonomous recovery and rebounding of the tube following removal of a shape deforming force.

  • Publication number: 20190311461
Abstract: Systems and methods of enhancing the resolution of digital terrain models (DTM) for location-based applications and analyses. The DTM enhancement process takes the signature of the input image (e.g., via the input image and a noise surface file with similar characteristics as the sensor used to capture the input image) and applies it to the DTM without including large features such as buildings. The disclosed methods include utilize a process similar to that used for enhancing a DSM based on mapping the changing intensity from the image file to changes in elevation in the DSM using a regression over a local neighborhood of pixels. Further, the disclosed methods do not rely on information about the sensors and are extendable to be able to utilize any types of images. Additionally, the disclosed embodiments are sensor agnostic and can be applied on any type of image collected by any type of sensor.

  • Patent number: 10147057
Abstract: Implementations described and claimed herein provide systems and methods for flood hazard zone modeling. In one implementation, one or more relevant stream segments are identified from an input stream network. One or more cross profiles are defined for one or more selected points on the relevant stream segments, with the selected points located within a flood hazard area. A high resolution flood level elevation map is generated by interpolating flood level elevation from the selected points. A flood depth map is generated having a flood depth value for each of the selected points computed as a difference between the high resolution flood level elevation map and a terrain elevation. One or more flood zones are defined in the flood depth map. The flood zones have a positive flood depth for a return period.

  • Patent number: 10092586
Abstract: The invention relates to pharmaceutical compositions comprising ?-Gal BOEL for use in treating patients with tumors. The invention also relates to methods of treating tumors using said compositions. The invention discloses that following intratumoral injection of ?-Gal BOEL, binding of the natural anti-Gal antibody to de novo expressed tumoral ?-Gal epitopes induces inflammation resulting in an anti-Gal antibody mediated opsonization of tumor cells and their uptake by antigen presenting cells. These antigen presenting cells migrate to draining lymph nodes and activate tumor specific T cells thereby converting the treated tumor lesions into in situ autologous tumor vaccines. This therapy can be applied to patients with multiple lesions and in neo-adjuvant therapy to patients before tumor resection. In addition to the regression and/or destruction of the treated tumor, such a vaccine will help in the immune mediated destruction of micrometastases that are not detectable during the removal of the treated tumor.

  • Publication number: 20170189597
Abstract: A dialysis system (e.g., a hemodialysis (HD) system) can be designed to operate in alternative environments, such as disaster relief settings or underdeveloped regions. The dialysis system can include a solar panel for generating electricity to power the dialysis machine and an atmospheric water generator for extracting water from ambient air. The extracted water can be used to generate dialysate and saline on-site. One or more of the components of the dialysis machine can be discrete components that are configured to facilitate fast shipping and simple on-site assembly (e.g., at a remote location). In some implementations, the discrete components may be configured to be attached to an existing dialysis system (e.g., a dialysis system designed for operation in a traditional environment) to permit the dialysis system to operate in an alternative environment.

  • Patent number: 9534840
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for moisture determination and control using real time measurement of the moisture content of the material being processed. The present invention also provides a device that is used for moisture determination and control based on real time measurement of moisture content of a material being processed. The present invention is particularly suitable for controlling the moisture content of a material in a drying process, such as in a drying hopper, where the material moisture content is measured at an inlet and an outlet of the drying process. The drying process is further controlled by anticipating the drying load by measuring the moisture content of the incoming material to be dried.

  • Patent number: 9483107
Abstract: In embodiments of adaptive idle timeout for storage devices, a computing device includes a storage device that stores data for read and write access on a rotating media. An operating system of the computing device maintains a device cycle number as an accounting of each time the storage device is powered on-off. The computing device implements a storage device driver that is implemented to obtain the device cycle number of the storage device from the operating system, and determine a projected cycle number over a duration of operational time of the storage device based on the device cycle number. The storage device driver can then determine whether the projected cycle number exceeds a maximum of power on-off cycles within a warranty period of the storage device, and control a frequency of the storage device being powered-off if the projected cycle number exceeds the maximum of power on-off cycles.
