  • Publication number: 20070099739
Abstract: A powertrain has an electrically variable hybrid transmission having an electro-hydraulic control system, plurality of electrical power units, and a plurality of torque transmitting mechanisms selectively engageable by the electro-hydraulic control system to provide four forward speed ranges, a neutral condition, an electric low speed mode, an electrically variable low and high speed mode, and two electrical power off drive home modes. The electro-hydraulic control system includes a multiplexed pressure switch system. The multiplexed pressure switch system of the present invention allows position detection of five torque transmitting mechanism control valves through the use of only four pressure switches.

  • Publication number: 20070052288
Abstract: A hydrodynamic retarder control apparatus includes two valve spools, one, a retarder control valve, functions as a relay valve to control the on/off operation of a hydrodynamic retarder and the other, a regulator valve, functions to control the regulation of pressure at the hydrodynamic retarder. During abnormal periods of operation of the regulator valve, the retarder control valve will also function as a pressure control valve thereby limiting the maximum pressure at the hydrodynamic retarder.

  • Publication number: 20070017326
Abstract: A cutting device, such as a circular saw, is disclosed with a laser-generating alignment mechanism. The alignment mechanism is mounted on a fixed component of the cutting device, such as a fixed linkage between the base of the device and the upper blade guard, thereby eliminating any significant variation in the length of the laser beam and resulting in a more accurate cut. A method of generating an accurate cut is also provided. The method includes placing a cutting device, such as a circular saw, adjacent to a workpiece and cutting the workpiece along a laser beam created by a laser generator mounted on a fixed component of the cutting device, such as a fixed linkage between the base of the device and the upper blade guard.

  • Publication number: 20060184303
Abstract: An electro-hydraulic control mechanism for use with a multi-speed transmission includes a pair of logic valves, which are manipulated during the ratio interchanges and the ratio establishment by aiding in the distribution of fluid pressure from a plurality of trim valves. A diagnostic valve is incorporated into the hydraulic system, which controls the pressure of a diagnostic switch between an on state and an off state. The position of this diagnostic switch provides an indication of the operating condition or lack thereof in a power transmission.

  • Publication number: 20060112804
Abstract: An ergonomic miter saw is provided having a base and a saw arm assembly with the saw arm assembly pivotally affixed at a fixed end to the base and provided with a distal end having a handle extending outwardly therefrom. The central region of the arm assembly includes a rotary spindle supporting a cutting disk. A handle is preferably provided with an elongate grip portion sized for the user's fingers and a palm pad portion extending outwardly therefrom to underlie the heal of the user's hand to minimize bending torque on the user's wrist as the arm is lowered. Ideally, the handle is rotated in a direction opposite that the cutting disk is tilted. Preferably, the handle is adjustably oriented about the arm axis in a direction opposite that the saw blade is tiltable so that the deviation for horizontal of the handle can be minimized when the miter saw is used in a tilted cutting disk mode.
