  • Patent number: 9205431
Abstract: An industrial machine that includes a breaker motor having a rotational speed, a breaker shaft, a sensor, and a controller. The breaker shaft is mechanically coupled to an output of the breaker motor, and the breaker shaft includes a plurality of tools operable to crush a material. The sensor is configured to generate a signal related to a parameter of the breaker motor. The controller is configured to receive the signal from the sensor, determine a value for the parameter of the breaker motor based on the received signal, compare the value for the parameter of the breaker motor to a threshold value, and generate a control signal for modifying the rotational speed of the breaker motor based on the comparison of the value for the parameter of the breaker motor to the threshold value.

  • Patent number: 5171434
Abstract: An effluent recycling sanitation system. A first container forms a placid waste separator connected in series to a second container forming an effluent recycling chamber. Both containers are located below ground and are formed from reinforced concrete having a fiberglass liner separated by insulation preventing outward flow of heat energy. The first container is sealed relative to the atmosphere providing for biodegradation of incoming sewage with a vertically extending screen allowing only liquid sewage to flow outwardly into the second container. An air inlet tube extends into the second container allowing fresh air to move into the container with gases then being withdrawn via a second tube extending out of the second container and powered by an air turbine. A solar converter plus auxiliary heat coils located within the second container rinse the temperature within the second container. Liquid within the second container is evaporated via the outlet tube.

  • Patent number: 5170789
Abstract: A nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) imaging method and apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus is an insertable probe consisting of a handle portion and an insertable portion. The probe has a NMR signal receiver disposed within the insertable portion and a reception frequency tuner which may be connected to an actuator which extends outside the sample into which the probe has been inserted. The NMR method of this invention includes the steps of inserting a NMR probe at a preselected detection location in a cavity within a sample, placing the sample in an external magnetic field, applying a perturbation pulse to the sample, and using the probe to receive the NMR emissions from the sample.

  • Patent number: 4894872
Abstract: A waterless sanitation system with ventilation. A toilet within a building is located over a pit having a solids holding basket suspendedly mounted within a liquids holding tank. A plurality of air inlet pipes extend externally of the building downwardly through the basket and into the liquids holding tank with a plurality of apertures provided on the pipes allowing the air to enter both the basket and tank. An exit pipe extends upwardly from the tank through the basket and through the roof of the building. A plurality of apertures in the exit pipe allow the gas within the tank and basket to escape. An exhaust fan is provided to pull the air downwardly through the inlet pipes and the gas outwardly through the exhaust pipe. The inlet pipes have mouths oriented to catch the wind assisting the flow of air.

  • Patent number: 4756092
Abstract: An apparatus and method for removing water from sludge waste material is provided. A layer of sludge is disposed upon an endless screen belt which is in turn dragged across a heated plate such that water in the sludge is evaporated and escapes from the sludge as steam. The endless screen is formed by a chain link belt which provides a plurality of discrete containers for small volumes of the sludge. The sludge may also be preheated just prior to drying by the injection of hot air columns into the sludge, such that the sludge is heated and agitated. The steam escaping from the drying sludge is directed into a heat exchanger which in turn heats the preheating air. Waste gases from a heating station are returned to the burner at the heating station to oxidize foul smelling chemicals and then reduce the odors generated by a sludge drying operation.

  • Patent number: RE49947
Abstract: A system for supplying hydrogen gas to a lighter-than-air (LTA) vehicle includes a manifold having multiple vessels. Each vessel has a first chamber that is separated from a second chamber by a barrier. A trigger assembly integrated with the barrier allows a liquid to be combined with a reactant and a catalyst in the second chamber to form a chemical reaction to generate hydrogen gas. A pressure relief valve located on each vessel opens to allow the hydrogen gas to exit when a predetermined pressure is reached, and the hydrogen gas is supplied to the LTA vehicle connected to the manifold.
