  • Publication number: 20030005005
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for generating a parameter value to be used as a parameter for a random number generator. A random value is generated and the random value is mapped to a prime number. The parameter value is generated by multiplying the prime number by previously selected prime numbers. Each parameter value is then used as one of a plurality of parameters for the random number generator.

  • Patent number: 6502135
Abstract: A plurality of computer nodes communicate using seemingly random Internet Protocol source and destination addresses. Data packets matching criteria defined by a moving window of valid addresses are accepted for further processing, while those that do not meet the criteria are quickly rejected. Improvements to the basic design include (1) a load balancer that distributes packets across different transmission paths according to transmission path quality; (2) a DNS proxy server that transparently creates a virtual private network in response to a domain name inquiry; (3) a large-to-small link bandwidth management feature that prevents denial-of-service attacks at system chokepoints; (4) a traffic limiter that regulates incoming packets by limiting the rate at which a transmitter can be synchronized with a receiver; and (5) a signaling synchronizer that allows a large number of nodes to communicate with a central node by partitioning the communication function between two separate entities.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 5942275
Abstract: Chocolate flavored nut spreads, especially chocolate flavored peanut butters having a milk chocolate like flavor without a bitter aftertaste and with desirable spreadability. Cocoa solids substantially free of dairy solids that are encapsulated by sugar are dispersed substantially homogeneously throughout the spread. The level of cocoa butter is also below the point where it can crystallize out (i.e., typically about 20% or less on a total fat basis).

  • Patent number: 5502742
Abstract: A heat treating furnace has a hot zone enclosure with a substantially rectangular cross section. The floor of the hot zone enclosure is formed such that it is removable independently of the remainder of the hot zone enclosure. The heat treating furnace has a heating element with a novel support element that is readily mounted on and removed from the hot zone enclosure and which adjusts to accommodate a wide range of heating element thicknesses and insulation shield thicknesses. The electrically insulating components of the support element are formed to resist electrical shorting resulting from metallization and to resist cracking from thermally induced stress. The heat treating furnace further includes a cooling gas injection nozzle formed to reduce turbulence in the injected gas stream and to be readily attached to or removed from the hot zone enclosure.

  • Patent number: 4050370
Abstract: A spiral meat slicer is provided which will form a continuous spiral slice on a piece of meat such as a ham which has a center bone structure which includes a crooked bone of non-uniform diameter. The spiral meat slicer includes an improved reciprocating knife structure.
