    Abstract: Height adjustable seat posts for bicycles are described herein. An example height adjustable seat post includes an upper tube and a lower tube configured in a telescopic arrangement. The height adjustable seat post also includes a shaft coupled to the lower tube and extending into the upper tube a piston assembly coupled to the shaft and disposed in the upper tube. The piston assembly includes a piston dividing the upper tube into a first chamber and a second chamber. The first and second chambers are filled with fluid. The piston assembly includes a valve operable between a closed state in which the fluid is blocked from flowing between the first and second chambers and an open state to enable the fluid to flow between the first and second chambers. The height adjustable seat post also includes a solenoid to control the valve.

    Abstract: A method for making a golf tee uses a bamboo rod having a top end and a bottom end and a wooden cylinder having a top and a bottom. The method has a cutting step, a trimming step and an assembly step. The cutting step forms a concave seat in the top of the cylinder and a mounting hole coaxially in the bottom of the cylinder. The trimming step trims a pointed tip on the bottom end of the rod to form a tee shaft with a top end and a tapered sidewall in the sidewall of the cylinder to form a tee head. The mounting step mounts the top end of the tee shaft in the mounting hole in the bottom of the tee head to form a golf tee. The golf tee made from the method has a strong structure without wasting wood.

    Abstract: A high-speed, directly modulated ridge waveguide laser includes: a ridge structure at a junction surface of the laser chip; and a plurality of pads only on non-active areas of the junction surface, where the plurality of pads protrude beyond an edge of the ridge structure. The laser chip can thus be held by a manufacturing tool, such that the manufacturing tool abuts the pads without abutting the ridge structure. In this manner, the ridge structure of the laser is protected from damage due to contacts by manufacturing tools, increasing the device yield of a wafer. By providing the pads only on the non-active areas of the junction surface, parasitic capacitance for contacts in the active areas can be properly controlled.

    Abstract: A metalwood golf club head is provided by attaching three distinct stamped pieces: a face and hosel piece, a crown piece and a bottom piece.
