Method for making a golf tee

A method for making a golf tee uses a bamboo rod having a top end and a bottom end and a wooden cylinder having a top and a bottom. The method has a cutting step, a trimming step and an assembly step. The cutting step forms a concave seat in the top of the cylinder and a mounting hole coaxially in the bottom of the cylinder. The trimming step trims a pointed tip on the bottom end of the rod to form a tee shaft with a top end and a tapered sidewall in the sidewall of the cylinder to form a tee head. The mounting step mounts the top end of the tee shaft in the mounting hole in the bottom of the tee head to form a golf tee. The golf tee made from the method has a strong structure without wasting wood.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a method of making a golf tee, and more particularly to a method of making a golf tee that has a strong structure without wasting wood.

2. Description of Related Art

Golf tees are used in golf to hold a golf ball above the ground so a golfer can strike the golf ball cleanly without hitting the grass or the ground.

A conventional method of making a golf tee cuts wooden tees from a single wooden cylinder to form an essentially T-shaped one-piece wooden golf tee. However, the wood cut away to form the golf tee cannot be used to make other golf tees. Therefore, the conventional method wastes wood.

With reference to FIG. 5, another conventional method of making a golf tee obtains a bamboo rod and a bamboo cylinder. The method cuts a tip (41) on the rod to form a tee shaft (40), cuts a through hole (51), a concave seat and a tapered outer wall in the cylinder and a tapered outer surface on the cylinder to form a tee head (50). Next, the method mounts the tee shaft (40) in the through hole (51) to form a T-shaped golf tee. However, the bamboo tee head (50) is cut hardly by a cutter due to the characteristics of bamboo. Furthermore, the tee shaft (40) may protrude through the through hole (51) into the concave seat due to an inadvertent force pressing the tee head (50) toward the tee shaft (40) and keep a golf ball from sitting stably in the concave seat.

To overcome the shortcomings, the present invention provides a method of making a golf tee to mitigate or obviate the aforementioned problems.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The main objective of the invention is to provide a method for making a golf tee that is processed easily and has a strong structure without wasting wood.

A method for making a golf tee in accordance with the present invention uses a bamboo rod having a top end and a bottom end and a wooden cylinder having a top and a bottom. The method comprises a cutting step, a trimming step and an assembly step.

The cutting step forms a concave seat in the top of the cylinder and a mounting hole in coaxially the bottom of the cylinder and un-communicating with the concave seat.

The trimming step trims a pointed tip on the bottom end of the rod to form a tee shaft with a top end and trims a tapered sidewall on the cylinder to form a tee head.

The assembly step mounts the top end of the tee shaft in the mounting hole in the bottom of the tee head to form a golf tee.

Other objectives, advantages and novel features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view of a rod and a semi-finished tee head with a mounting hole and a concave seat of a semi-finished golf tee made with a method in accordance with the present invention;

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

With reference to FIGS. 1, 2 and 3, a golf tee in accordance with the present invention has a tee head (20a) and a tee shaft (10a) and is made from a bamboo rod (10) and cylinder (20) by a method in accordance with the present invention.

The tee head (20a) is made from the wooden cylinder (20) and has a top, a bottom, a tapered sidewall, a concave seat (21) and a mounting hole (22). The concave seat (21) is formed in the top, and the mounting hole (22) is formed coaxially in the bottom and is kept from communicating with the concave seat (21).

The tee shaft (10a) is made of a bamboo rod (10) and has a top end, a bottom end and a pointed tip (11). The pointed tip (11) is formed on the bottom end.

The rod (10) is a semi-finished tee shaft (10a) and has a top end and a bottom end. The cylinder (20) is a semi-finished tee head (20a) and has a top, a bottom and a sidewall.

The method for making the golf tee in accordance with the present invention uses the rod (10) and the cylinder (20) and comprises multiple steps including a cutting step, a trimming step and an assembly step.

The cutting step forms a concave seat (21) in the top of the cylinder (20) and a mounting hole (22) coaxially in the bottom of the cylinder (20) and un-communicating with the concave seat (21). The concave seat (21) securely holds a golf ball.

The trimming step trims a pointed tip (11) on the bottom end of the rod (10) to form a tee shaft (10a) and trims a tapered sidewall in the sidewall of the cylinder (20) to complete the tee head (20a).

The assembly step mounts the top end of the tee shaft (10a) in the mounting hole (22) in the bottom of the tee head (20a) to form a golf tee.

A total volume of the rod (10) and the cylinder (20) in the present method for making a golf tee is smaller than that of a single wood cylinder in the conventional method for making a golf tee. Therefore, the present method uses less wood to make the golf tee.

Furthermore, the mounting hole (21) does not communicate with the concave seat to keep the top end of the tee shaft (10a) from extending all the way through the tee head (20a) when an inappropriate force presses the tee head (20a) toward the tee shaft (10a).

Furthermore, the tee head (20a) is made of durable wood that can be processed easily by a cutter.

Even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the present invention have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structure and function of the invention, the disclosure is illustrative only. Changes may be made in detail, especially in matters of shape, size, and arrangement of parts within the principles of the invention to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.

Claims

1. A method for making a golf tee using a bamboo rod with a top end and a bottom end and a wooden cylinder with a top, a bottom and a sidewall and comprising steps of:

a cutting step of forming a concave seat in the top of the cylinder and a mounting hole coaxially in the bottom of the cylinder and kept from communicating with the concave seat;
a trimming step of trimming a pointed tip on the bottom end of the rod to form a tee shaft and trimming a tapered sidewall in the sidewall of the cylinder to form a tee head; and
an assembly step of mounting the top end of the tee shaft in the mounting hole in the bottom of the tee head to form a golf tee.

2. A golf tee comprising:

a tee head made of a wooden cylinder and having a top; a bottom; a tapered sidewall; a concave seat defined in the top of the tee head; and a mounting hole defined coaxially in the bottom of the tee head and un-communicating with the concave seat; and
a tee shaft made of a bamboo rod and having a top end mounted in the mounting hole in the bottom of the tee head, a bottom and a pointed tip formed on the bottom end.
