  • Patent number: 8130633
Abstract: The invention is directed to a process for transferring data packets through a protocol stack employed by the device for transmitting packets on a packet connection to a wireless network, said wireless network operating at least two, distinct wireless access technologies such as GSM/GPRS and UMTS. The packet transfer process generally comprises each layer of a protocol stack for a currently active packet connection path providing confirmation to a next, higher layer in the stack of successful reception of a data packet from that layer, thereby confirming successful transfer of the data packet through the stack. The first layer of the stack stores a copy of a transferred packet until such time as its receives confirmation from the next, lower layer of successful transfer of the packet of the stack.

  • Patent number: 8009730
Abstract: Constant-bitrate rate control is very useful for real-time video transmission. However, it is difficult to realize a good CBR rate control in an MPEG4-AVC video codec. According to the invention, an adapted ?-domain rate control processing for real-time rate control is applied, whereby ? is the percentage of zero amplitude transform coefficients following quantization. A couple of tables are used for mapping between the quantization parameters and ?. A detailed analysis at transform level is carried out in order to get the slope of the relationship between the bitrate and ?. The slope of the linear model is constrained by a look-ahead procedure with respect to the neighbor frames or blocks.

  • Patent number: 7982771
Abstract: A method for emendation of attention trajectory in video content analysis is disclosed. The method includes steps of extracting attention area for each frame in a video sequence, each attention area of a frame selectively being a reference for the other frames, projecting the attention area of the reference to a current frame, and determining an enhanced attention area of the current frame by collecting and merging all the projected attention areas together with the original attention area of the current frame to emend the attention trajectory of the video sequence so as to make the attention trajectory smooth. Advantageously, short-life attention or noise is omitted, and the attention area is also enriched, therefore, the smooth of the attention trajectory improves subjective viewing experience of human being.

  • Patent number: 7963153
Abstract: A method, a system and a computer readable medium for dynamic mode AFM amplitude versus distance curve acquisition. In an embodiment, a constant force feedback mechanism is enabled prior to the first time an AFM probe tip contacts a sample. The feedback mechanism setpoint is iteratively reduced while at least phase and amplitude of the probe tip are recorded as a function of the relative z-height of a cantilever coupled to the probe tip. The feedback mechanism setpoint may be repeatedly swept between upper and lower bounds to average out drift between the cantilever and sample. Upon detecting a threshold, an absolute tip-to-sample distance is determined and correlated to the relative z-heights. The amplitude and phase data recorded prior to tip-sample contact is then determined as a function of absolute tip-to-sample distance.

  • Publication number: 20110104344
Abstract: The invention provides a stable concentrated dairy liquid, such as concentrated milk, with improved flavor, color, and mouthfeel, and a method of production thereof. The method utilizes specific thermal treatments to produce the stable concentrated dairy liquid to which a stabilizer and mouthfeel enhancer are added. The resulting products have a sterilization value Fo of at least 5 that is also resistant to gelling and browning during high temperature sterilization and is also resistant to gelling and browning during storage for greater than six months. The method balances such thermal treatments with addition of stabilizer and enhancer to achieve the desired flavor/mouthfeel and sterilization and to achieve reduced level of soluble protein in the concentrated milk prior to concentration to resist gelation and minimize browning. Moreover, such processing may be utilized in a milk that is concentrated to a factor of 2.7 fold or higher and contains at least 8.5 percent protein.

  • Publication number: 20100093318
Abstract: Methods and systems for license control associated with telecommunication services are described. An incoming service request can be selectively processed without first checking for license compliance. For example, an incoming request can first be served and then subsequently license compliance can be checked. Periodically, a license server can replenish its license tokens for the service. If a request for license tokens is under fulfilled, then subsequent incoming service requests can be checked for license compliance before the communication service is provided.

  • Patent number: 7667930
Abstract: A disk drive suspension has a doubly increased dimple contact force through separate, differential deflections of the flexure frame toward the load beam so as to carry the flexure tongue having dimple engagement with the load beam closer to the beam, and thus have greater dimple contact force without adverse PSA alteration. Doubly deflecting the outrigger struts of the flexure toward the supporting load beam in differential relation with a greater deflection and local strut displacement in a first location and a lesser deflection and local strut displacement in a second location on the initially deflected portion of the frame outriggers provides increased dimple contact force.
