  • Publication number: 20060047940
Abstract: A multi-buttons booting system comprises an on-switch button logic unit, an embedded chip (EC) and its RAM, a lookup module, and a loading module. A plurality of on-switch buttons are connected to the EC and corresponds to a plurality of operating systems. In response to the push on a button, the EC outputs a signal that writes an indicator value in the RAM. According to the indicator value, the corresponding MBR is sought and loaded. The loaded MBR then conducts the booting of a corresponding operating system. The system resource occupation is thereby reduced, the activation speed is increased, and the user's manual intervention is reduced.

  • Publication number: 20060018492
Abstract: A sound control system and method applicable to an electronic device having a timing unit. A setting module is provided to set predetermined conditions and corresponding sound volume parameters. A time session control module retrieves the sound volume parameter corresponding to a present condition obtained by the timing unit. Then, a corresponding sound output signal to be outputted by a speaker unit connected to the sound control system is set via a sound effects module according to the sound volume parameter and a sound signal around the electronic device that is received and recognized by a sound recognition module. By such arrangement, the sound control system and method allow the electronic device to provide the user with optimal sound effects depending on the environment and the user's preferences.

  • Patent number: 6975348
Abstract: A focusing method for a moving object that involves using a gray histogram and a histogram projection drawing to analyze the serial images taken by a photographic instrument, taking a pattern from the images of the serial images, comparing every image of the serial images by means of pattern matching, and eventually generating a new pattern. Given the patterns and the updated patterns that are in sequential order, discrepancies between a pattern and an updated pattern can be found by comparison so as to acquire the information about the dynamic movement of the moving object.

  • Patent number: 6909790
Abstract: A system and method of monitoring moving objects. Once an object appears, the system of the invention automatically decides whether the object requires monitoring. If the answer is affirmative, the system starts to monitor the object continuously. The method involves using a large number of monitors, and it differentiates between a monitor's angle of monitoring and the monitor's overlapping angle of monitoring. If an object lies within the range of the monitor's angle of monitoring, the object is monitored with a single monitor. However, once the object is in the overlapping angle of monitoring, the object is monitored by two monitors simultaneously.

  • Publication number: 20030135754
Abstract: A system and method for expanding a database, after connecting to a database website, a client end may choose databases from the database website and pay for the selected database. Payment allows a client end to gain a number of database download and installation times for downloading and installing the database. An authentication code is then sent back to the database website. When the authentication code is verified, the system returns an authentication approval message to the client end. After the client end receives the authentication approval message, the database is encrypted with the authentication code. Finally, the client end is able to completely install the encrypted database on line. Thus, the copyright of the database is securely protected.

  • Patent number: 5995919
Abstract: An automatic multi-lingual recognizing method for distinguishing multi-lingual characters among different codes is disclosed. The method includes determining the code legitimacy of characters of a whole text by comparing code blocks of the characters with predefined code ranges of code systems. Next, if the code legitimacy of the characters is not uniquely recognized, the characters of the whole text is analyzed to determine whether the characters are common phrases by comparing the characters with common-phrase data bases. Finally, if the analysis of the common phrase of the characters is not uniquely recognized, the characters of the text is then analyzed to determine whether the characters are common words by comparing the characters with common-word data bases.

  • Patent number: 5987447
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for searching sentences by analyzing words. The method arranges the expressive conceptual words of words in a sentence data base to establish a corresponding index table of conceptual words and sentences. Next, the conceptual words of words are arranged, namely, by performing the conceptual distinguishing of words to establish a corresponding index table of words and conceptual words. After a user inputs a word, many expressive conceptual words of the word are searched through the corresponding index table of words and conceptual words. After the user inputs an option signal to select an expectant conceptual word of the word, appropriate sentences are searched through the corresponding index table of conceptual words and sentences and a sentence data base. Using the above method, the present invention can effectively raise the ratio of hitting the target for searching an appropriate sentence, and increase the speed of searching sentence.
