  • Patent number: 10988130
Abstract: A method for controlling continuous and discrete actuators (e.g., modes) in a powertrain system includes receiving preview information from a sensor(s) describing an upcoming dynamic state at a future time point, and providing control inputs for the actuators to a controller that includes the preview information. The input set collectively describes a future torque or speed output state at the future time point. The controller processes the input set via a dynamical predictive model, in real time, to determine control solutions to take at the present time point for implementing the dynamic state at the future time point. A lowest opportunity cost control solution is determined and optimized. The controller executes the optimized solution at the present time step.

  • Publication number: 20210061278
Abstract: A method for controlling automated driving operations of a vehicle includes determining vehicle origin and destination data, and generating a graphical representation of a road network with multiple candidate routes between the vehicle's origin and destination. Road-level data, including speed, turn angle, and/or gradient data, is received for each candidate route, and respective total energy uses are estimated for the vehicle to traverse across the candidate routes. Multiple candidate driving strategies, each having respective speed and acceleration profiles, are determined for the candidate route with the lowest estimated total energy use. An optimal candidate driving strategy is selected through a cost evaluation of the associated speed and acceleration profiles and forward movement simulations of the vehicle over a prediction horizon.

  • Publication number: 20210056408
Abstract: The technology described herein is directed to a reinforcement learning based framework for training a natural media agent to learn a rendering policy without human supervision or labeled datasets. The reinforcement learning based framework feeds the natural media agent a training dataset to implicitly learn the rendering policy by exploring a canvas and minimizing a loss function. Once trained, the natural media agent can be applied to any reference image to generate a series (or sequence) of continuous-valued primitive graphic actions, e.g., sequence of painting strokes, that when rendered by a synthetic rendering environment on a canvas, reproduce an identical or transformed version of the reference image subject to limitations of an action space and the learned rendering policy.

  • Patent number: 10916001
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for transforming sketches into stylized electronic paintings. A neural network system is trained where the training includes training a first neural network that converts input sketches into output images and training a second neural network that converts images into output paintings. Similarity for the first neural network is evaluated between the output image and a reference image and similarity for the second neural network is evaluated between the output painting, the output image, and a reference painting. The neural network system is modified based on the evaluated similarity. The trained neural network is used to generate an output painting from an input sketch where the output painting maintains features from the input sketch utilizing an extrapolated intermediate image and reflects a designated style from the reference painting.

  • Publication number: 20210027141
Abstract: This disclosure relates to methods, non-transitory computer readable media, and systems that can classify term sequences within a source text based on textual features analyzed by both an implicit-class-recognition model and an explicit-class-recognition model. For example, by applying machine-learning models for both implicit and explicit class recognition, the disclosed systems can determine a class corresponding to a particular term sequence within a source text and identify the particular term sequence reflecting the class. The dual-model architecture can equip the disclosed systems to apply (i) the implicit-class-recognition model to recognize implicit references to a class in source texts and (ii) the explicit-class-recognition model to recognize explicit references to the same class in source texts.

  • Patent number: 10839493
Abstract: In implementations of transferring image style to content of a digital image, an image editing system includes an encoder that extracts features from a content image and features from a style image. A whitening and color transform generates coarse features from the content and style features extracted by the encoder for one pass of encoding and decoding. Hence, the processing delay and memory requirements are low. A feature transfer module iteratively transfers style features to the coarse feature map and generates a fine feature map. The image editing system fuses the fine features with the coarse features, and a decoder generates an output image with content of the content image in a style of the style image from the fused features. Accordingly, the image editing system efficiently transfers an image style to image content in real-time, without undesirable artifacts in the output image.

  • Publication number: 20200349688
Abstract: A style of a digital image is transferred to another digital image of arbitrary resolution. A high-resolution (HR) content image is segmented into several low-resolution (LR) patches. The resolution of a style image is matched to have the same resolution as the LR content image patches. Style transfer is then performed on a patch-by-patch basis using, for example, a pair of feature transforms—whitening and coloring. The patch-by-patch style transfer process is then repeated at several increasing resolutions, or scale levels, of both the content and style images. The results of the style transfer at each scale level are incorporated into successive scale levels up to and including the original HR scale. As a result, style transfer can be performed with images having arbitrary resolutions to produce visually pleasing results with good spatial consistency.

  • Publication number: 20200324766
Abstract: Operating a subject vehicle equipped with an adaptive cruise control system includes setting initial states for control parameters, including setting a desired vehicle speed and determining a desired following gap range, wherein the desired following gap range is associated with a lead vehicle. Operation is controlled via the adaptive cruise control system based upon the initial states for the control parameters. Operation also includes monitoring for presence of the lead vehicle. Upon detecting presence of the lead vehicle, an actual following gap is determined between the subject vehicle and the lead vehicle, and the initial states of the control parameters associated with the adaptive cruise control system are adjusted based upon the actual following gap between the subject vehicle and the lead vehicle, and the desired following gap range. Operation is controlled via the adaptive cruise control system based upon the adjusted initial states of the control parameters.
