  • Patent number: 9296358
Abstract: A motor vehicle airbag system comprises a dual chambered combined head, torso, and knee airbag having a head and torso chamber and a lower extremities chamber in fluid communication with the head and torso chamber. A multidirectional inflator substantially simultaneously inflates both of the head and torso chamber and the lower extremities chamber. The head and torso chamber in the inflated condition acts against a head and a torso of the motor vehicle occupant to generate a restraining force against the occupant to mitigate contact of the occupant head and torso with the upper portion of the instrument panel during the impact event. The lower extremities chamber in the inflated condition acts against the pair of knees of the occupant to mitigate contact of the knees of the occupant with the lower portion of the panel during the impact event.

  • Publication number: 20150239373
Abstract: A seat assembly including a seat pan that drops vertically in the event of a frontal impact event to help safeguard against the head of an unbelted seat occupant striking the headliner, windshield or other components of the vehicle. The seat assembly includes a seat pan attached to a seat track. The seat track further includes an attachment bracket. A swing linkage movably connects the seat pan with the seat track by a movable fastener. A slot is formed in the bracket through which at least a part of the movable fastener passes. A pyrotechnic fastener also attaches the swing linkage to the bracket. In a frontal impact event the pyrotechnic fastener is caused to explode thus separating the pyrotechnic fastener into two parts and allowing the swing linkage and its attached seat pan to drop vertically relative to the seat track, thereby lowering the unbelted occupant.

  • Publication number: 20130181429
Abstract: An airbag assembly includes a steering wheel, an airbag housing mounted to a hub of the steering wheel, and an airbag stored in the housing. The airbag includes a rim-facing panel, a driver-facing panel, an upper tether extending between the housing and a first location on the driver-facing panel opposite from the hub, and a lower tether extending between the housing and a second location below the first location. The tethers shape the airbag to have a thicker head contact portion adjacent to the upper rim of the steering wheel and a thinner chest contact portion adjacent to the lower rim of the steering wheel. The shape provides more balanced occupant protection in a frontal crash event, because the thicker head contact portion reduces the driver's head acceleration and neck injury.

  • Publication number: 20120296167
Abstract: The present invention relates to a flexible-tubed structure of an endoscope comprising a plurality of cylindrical units, a first wire, a second wire, a first flexible unit, and a second flexible unit. The wires respectively pass through the cylindrical units. The flexible units are continuously disposed at the recesses of the cylindrical units. The cylindrical units are used to form a tubular unit by the flexible units. The tubular unit is bent by the tension of the first wire or the second wire to control the turning-direction of the camera apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20050180423
Abstract: A device and method of network communication can receive a control/data signal from a computer motherboard via a storage interface bus and output a storage/network data packet to a network via a network connection port, so that the computer can access the network and a storage device such as hard disk via the device or the method of the present invention. Therefore, the cost of maintaining the storage device and the risk of destruction by computer virus is reduced. Wherein the device of the present invention includes a storage controller for converting the control/data signal into a storage signal, a network microprocessor for converting the storage signal into a storage data packet and a wireless/wired switching agent for converting the storage data packet and a network data packet into the storage/network data packet.

  • Publication number: 20050104342
Abstract: An improved side airbag (10) is provided for enhancing protection of a vehicle occupant's thorax and simultaneously displacing the vehicle occupant (14) away from door intrusion. This improved side airbag (12) is an inflatable bag having a thorax-cushioning portion (16) and a pelvis-pushing portion (18) adjacent to the thorax-cushioning portion (16). The thorax-cushioning portion (16) has a first predetermined stiffness for cushioning a thorax region of the vehicle occupant (14) while the pelvis-pushing portion (18) has a second predetermined stiffness for displacing the vehicle occupant (14) away from the door intrusion. The second predetermined stiffness of the pelvis-pushing portion (18) is greater than the first predetermined stiffness of thorax-cushioning portion (16).
