  • Publication number: 20070267179
Abstract: A heat pipe includes a shell containing a working media therein, a first capillary wick, a second capillary wick and a vapor channel enclosed by the first and second capillary wicks. The first capillary wick is positioned on an inner side of the shell. A whole length of the second capillary wick is longitudinally joined with the first capillary wick. The first capillary wick consists of sintered metallic or ceramic powder. The second capillary wick is a mesh-type capillary wick.

  • Publication number: 20070133656
Abstract: A performance testing apparatus for a heat pipe includes an immovable portion having a cooling structure defined therein for cooling a heat pipe to be tested. A movable portion is capable of moving relative to the immovable portion and has a cooling structure defined therein for cooling the heat pipe. A receiving structure is located between the immovable portion and the movable portion for receiving the heat pipe therein. At least a temperature sensor is attached to at least one of the immovable portion and the movable portion for thermally contacting the heat pipe in the receiving structure for detecting temperature of the heat pipe. An enclosure encloses the immovable portion and the movable portion therein and has sidewalls thereof slidably contacting at least one of the immovable portion and the movable portion.

  • Publication number: 20060256834
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for testing the performance of a heat pipe and an apparatus for conducting the performance test. The apparatus includes a heating device and a cooling device. Two ends of the heat pipe are thermally connected to the heating device and the cooling device, respectively. The heating device is applied to supply thermal energy to the heat pipe. When the quantity of thermal energy being transferred to the heat pipe reaches to a specified value, the temperatures at the two ends of the heat pipe are detected. If the temperature difference between the two ends is lower than a predetermined value, the heat pipe being tested is deemed as acceptable.

  • Publication number: 20060243361
Abstract: Disclosed is an ageing process (100) for a group of sealed products to cause defective products among the group of sealed products, if any, to appear in advance so that the defective products can be subsequently detected easily and further removed from the group of sealed products. The ageing process includes the following steps: placing the sealed products into an ageing oven (10); releasing the gas originally existing in the ageing oven, and filling nitrogen gas and hydrogen gas into the ageing oven until the gas pressure inside the ageing oven reaches a first value; heating the sealed products until the temperature inside the ageing oven reaches a second value; conducting ageing on the sealed products under a specified time period and taking the sealed products out of the ageing oven after the time period is over.

  • Publication number: 20060243424
Abstract: A heat pipe (10) includes a metal casing (12) having a closed end (14) and a sealed end (16) located opposite to the closed end. The sealed end of the heat pipe includes a cramped section (16a) having a wave-shaped cross-section. A device for sealing an open end (16a) of the heat pipe includes a pair of clamping blocks (26) for clamping the open end of the heat pipe in a first direction and a pair of pressing blocks (22, 24) located at opposite sides of the open end of the heat pipe and being capable of moving towards each other, thereby approaching the open end of the heat pipe in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction. The pressing blocks have a pair of complementary wave-shaped forming faces (22a, 24a) formed thereon.
