  • Publication number: 20060067191
Abstract: Embodiments of a method and apparatus of identifying optical disk types according to the present invention can identify the type of an optical disk (e.g., DVD-RAM, DVD-RAM, or DVD±RW) based on comparisons between a plurality of signals. For example, comparisons between the magnitudes of DPD and DPP tracking error signals and their respective reference values can be used. If an optical disk is identified as DVD+RW or DVD-RW, embodiments according to the present invention can further determine whether the optical disk is DVD+RW or DVD-RW. For example, the frequency of a wobble signal resulting from the shape of tracks formed on the optical disk and variables that affect the wobble frequency (e.g., the rotational speed of the optical disk and the current track position) can be used.

  • Patent number: 7012229
Abstract: A vacuum cooking apparatus and cooking method using the vacuum cooking apparatus, which automatically performs cold storage, thawing, cooking, and warming functions in a single cooking apparatus, thus improving cooking convenience. In the cooking method, a temperature of a cooking cavity is decreased by creating a vacuum state in the cooking cavity for a preset period in response to a cold storage signal, thus performing a cold storage mode that allows food to be stored at a low temperature. The cold storage mode is terminated after the preset period has elapsed, and then a cooking mode is performed by heating the food.

  • Publication number: 20050164631
Abstract: Disclosed is a circuit for supplying ear-microphone bias power in a mobile terminal that reduces power consumption due to unnecessary ear-microphone bias when the terminal is in a sleep mode with an ear/microphone being connected to the terminal through an ear-microphone line. The ear/microphone has a call switch connected to the ear-microphone line. The circuit receives first and second powers through first and second power input terminals, respectively. The first power is supplied when the terminal is not in the sleep mode, whereas the second power having a voltage lower than that of the first power is supplied also in the sleep mode. The circuit supplies ear-microphone bias power, based on the first power, to the ear-microphone line when not in the sleep mode, and supplies power for detecting a switching operation of the call switch, based on the second power, to the ear-microphone line in the sleep mode.

  • Publication number: 20050008085
Abstract: A preprocessing apparatus and method for a transmitter and a receiver to prevent system performance degradation caused by Inter-Channel Interference (ICI) or inter-symbol interference (ISI) in an OFDM system. In the OFDM system using N carriers having different frequency bands and K carriers of the N carriers designated as redundant carriers, the transmitter renders ICI-causing parts to be zeroes in a data frame, when a cyclic prefix is not longer than a channel impulse response. Therefore, the ICI is prevented. The receiver eliminates the ISI involved in a current frame using an interference estimated from a previous data frame. Therefore, noise spread caused by the use of redundant carriers is prevented and system complexity is remarkably reduced.
