  • Patent number: 6717123
Abstract: A wall-mounted type microwave oven includes a cabinet and a hood having a guide duct. The guide duct is movably arranged in the hood, and automatically slides in and out the hood by an actuating unit of the microwave oven. A movable filter is set in the guide duct so as to be spaced apart from an inner surface of the guide duct by a predetermined interval. Where the guide duct is moved forward, exhaust gases generated therebelow pass through the movable filter, and the filtered gases are guided into the cabinet by the guide duct. The actuating unit includes a rotary member and a drive motor mounted on the hood. The rotary member is rotated by the drive motor to move the guide duct forward. The actuating unit further includes an elastic member which is connected, at an end thereof, to the hood and, at the other end thereof, to an inside end of the guide duct. • Publication number: 20040001397
Abstract: A method and device for searching a recording medium are provided. The recording medium has a management information area of which location information is overlapped with that of a program area. The method for determining an area on a recording medium having an overlapped time range between two areas reads a time address from a current position on the recording medium, obtains additional information from the recording medium or from a recording medium driving unit, if the read time address belongs to the overlapped range, and determines, based on the obtained additional information, to which one the areas the current position belongs. Therefore, the present invention prevents wrong track jumps that are caused from time-overlapped areas on a capacity-expanded recording medium.

  • Publication number: 20020163326
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of detecting a defect area without any mistake during data recording on a writable disk. This method detects a level of a servo error signal produced during a recording operation, checks whether the servo error signal is in an abnormal state based on the detected level, detects a periodic wobble signal or periodicity of the abnormal state occurrences of the servo error signal produced during the recording operation, and determines whether a recording area is in defect based on successful decoding of the detected periodic wobble signal or the periodicity of the abnormal state occurrences if the servo error signal is in an abnormal state. This method ensures exact detection of a defect area, whereby unnecessary speed reduction can be eliminated and successful data writing can be also guaranteed even in a defect area.

  • Patent number: 6414924
Abstract: This invention provides a method and apparatus for automatic type discrimination of differently sized disk-shaped information storage media, wherein pulses in a signal generated during the initial rotation and the associated elapsed time are counted and used to detect the size of the disk-shaped information storage medium. The method according to this invention comprises the steps of detecting signals produced from a driving unit for rotating a disk-shaped information storage medium; and identifying the type of the disk-shaped information storage medium according to the size thereof on the basis of comparison of the detected signal with a reference signal. This invention enables to detect the size of the disk-shaped information storage medium in a shorter period time compared to the conventional art because the initial time duration needed to get a desired stable rotation speed, which depends on the size of the disk-shaped information storage medium, is no longer required.

  • Patent number: 6357287
Abstract: This invention provides a system and method for detecting misfires of an engine that reduces on board computer memory loss and shortens the time to process routines to detect misfires. Teeth are installed in a flywheel connected to a crank shaft, and analog signals that are generated by a difference between a tooth and a bottom of a tooth space are detected by a magnetic pickup. The analog signals are transformed into digital signals by a digital circuit, and the number of HIGH values of the digital signals and time between the top dead centers (TDCs) are detected by a timer and counter. An angular acceleration of the flywheel is then found by an electric control unit (ECU). A magnitude of frequency components of the angular acceleration is found performing a discrete Fourier transform (DFT) on the angular acceleration with respect to a Walsh function as a basis function, and the magnitude of the frequency components are compared with a predetermined reference value to detect a misfire of the engine.

  • Publication number: 20020003761
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of changing a recording mode from CAV (Constant Angular Velocity) to CLV (Constant Linear Velocity) mode in the middle of recording data to a disk recording medium. A method according to the present invention reads ATIP-framed data encoded in a wobble signal formed along a spiral physical track while recording input data to a recording medium, detects a sync signal contained in the read ATIP-framed data. Another method measures frequency of a low-frequency component of the wobble signal instead of reading ATIP-framed data. These two methods determines, in common, when to change the recording mode from CAV to CLV based on the period of the detected sync signal or the measured frequency. The present invention makes it possible to record input data to an entire area of a disk more rapidly without fatal errors such as imperfect writing. As a result, total recording time can be reduced with stable recording guaranteed.

  • Patent number: 6218652
Abstract: In the microwave oven having a high voltage driving part with a high voltage transformer, a switching unit applies electric power to the high voltage driving part. In the switching unit, when switched on, an operational contact firstly comes in contact with a first contact coupled with a PTC thermistor and secondly with a second contact after a given time period, and a driving unit generates driving force and turns on/off the switching unit. Since the switching unit and driving unit may be simply installed to effectively eliminate the inrush current, assembly and work efficiencies are improved according to a simpler wiring process, and also, the total manufacturing cost for the microwave oven is reduced.
