  • Publication number: 20080172335
Abstract: A method of protecting digital data by utilizing a credit rating system is disclosed. Users of a download service have credit ratings and credit histories. Initially when a user signs up for a download service, the user's credit rating is set to a predetermined level. As the user continues to use the service their credit rating is affected by their behavior. If unauthorized copies of the user's files appear on the Internet, pier to pier networks, or on physical storage means, the user's credit rating will go down. If the user's credit rating drops to a certain level, the content provider can suspend or terminate the user's account. If the user exhibits good behavior by not illegally sharing files they are rewarded. The reward comprises free downloads, exclusive content, reduced subscription fees, digital cash, or prizes. As a result, digital data is protected and illegal file sharing is prevented.

  • Publication number: 20080130058
Abstract: A method of protecting digital data by embedding a watermark in the digital data is discloses. The watermark identifies a specific user who originally downloaded the digital data. The watermark comprises data that when read reveals a user's account information, a user identifier, a user's real name, a data identifier, a content provider identifier, a device identifier, or a combination of these. Since any copies of the digital data contain the original download user's watermark, users will not allow the digital data to be illegally copied or shared as the original user can be punished or prosecuted for unauthorized sharing of the digital data. The method effectively and efficiently protects digital data without the need for cumbersome digital rights management system.

  • Publication number: 20070014078
Abstract: An optical module with an optical film and a positioning frame is disclosed. The positioning frame firmly fixes the optical film of the optical module so as to prevent the deviation of the optical film. The optical film has at least a first lug with a base portion and an expansion portion extending outwardly, wherein the width of the expansion portion is wider than the base portion. The positioning frame has a side wall and a flange. The flange is disposed on the side wall and has a first opening. The flange located at one side of the first opening has a first protrusion extending outwardly the side wall on the two sides of the first opening. The first opening is used to contain the base portion of the first lug, and the expansion portion of the first lug can be disposed under the first protrusion.

  • Patent number: 6434634
Abstract: A new protocol of a standard game port for interfacing an external HSP modem, and game port devices is disclosed. The invention provides an external HSP modem housed in a compact case which includes a connector for mounting on a PC game port and a connector for coupling to a joystick and a MIDI interface. Inside the case, a bridge module is coupled to a modem module to forward the modem data input in response to a plurality of serial port clocks. The modem data input is then forwarded to an encode/decode module via multiple redefined read-only ports. The encode/decode module is on a sound chip for restoring the modem data input to their original formats. The restored data will be forwarded to a system bus for CPU to access via an HSP modem interface. The signal transmissions for the joystick and the MIDI I/O device are basically the same because the bandwidth of the game port is still enough if the modem, the joystick, and the MIDI I/O device are operated simultaneously.
