The first UE transmits sidelink control information to one or more second UEs. The sidelink control information includes an indication of a first resource reserved for transmitting first sidelink positioning reference signals (SL-PRSs) from the first UE to the one or more second UEs. The sidelink control information includes an indication requesting the one or more second UEs to transmit second SL-PRSs to the first UE in response to receiving the first SL-PRSs from the first UE. The first UE transmits the first SL-PRSs on the first resource to the one or more second UEs.

    Abstract: A method, which is applied to a UE, for controlling the transmission power of each of positioning (POS) sounding reference signals (SRSs) across a subset of multiple component carriers (CCs) in carrier aggregation is provided. A SRS configuration for a subset of the CCs is received. Pathlosses corresponding to SRS transmission in the subset of the CCs are measured. Pathloss measurements corresponding to the subset of the CCs are processed to obtain a single pathloss across the subset of the CCs. The transmission power of each of the POS-SRSs across the subset of the CCs is determined based on the single pathloss. Each of the POS-SRSs are transmitted with the transmission power through the CCs.

    Abstract: A method of latency reduction for positioning-specific measurement reporting is provided. A User Equipment (UE) performs first measurements on Positioning Reference Signals (PRSs) to obtain first measurement results in response to receiving a location information request from a mobile communication network. The UE uses a first configured grant to transmit a first measurement report including the first measurement results to the mobile communication network. The UE performs second measurements on PRSs to obtain second measurement results in response to the same location information request. The UE uses the first configured grant to transmit a second measurement report including the second measurement results to the mobile communication network, without triggering a Scheduling Request (SR) procedure or a Buffer Status Report (BSR) procedure.

The respective set of subcarriers carries a respective set of SRSs that form transmission combs of a transmission comb size.     Abstract: Signalling and protocol methods are proposed to allow positioning operations with signals of the cellular system for a UE in idle or inactive mode. In one novel aspect, UL-PRS is embedded in the RACH procedure: a set of RACH preambles with the functionality of UL-PRS are defined. These preambles are sent by the UE to the serving gNB to initiate a RACH procedure, and the following signalling could convey the measurement results. In another novel aspect, positioning operations on the network side are triggered through an AMF. The AMF may elect not to bring the UE to connected mode before transferring the location request to an LMF; instead, the AMF may indicate that the UE is in idle mode and it expects to page the UE with a subsequent message from the LMF.
