  • Publication number: 20030174833
Abstract: A dialing method with phone number retrieval using partial pattern matching. First, a partial number string is received. Then, phone number sources are searched to retrieve candidate numbers according to the partial number string. All of the candidate numbers contain the partial number string. Thereafter, a phone number is selected from the candidate numbers, and an outgoing call is placed according to the selected phone number.

  • Publication number: 20030163680
Abstract: A remote boot system. The system includes a remote server, a first local client terminal and a second local client terminal. The remote server has an operating system, and the first local client terminal downloads the operating system from the remote server. The first local client terminal receives a local server discovery signal sent by the second local client terminal and sends a first response signal in response to the local server discovery signal to the second local client terminal. The second local client terminal downloads the operating system from the first local client terminal in response to the first response signal.

  • Publication number: 20030070035
Abstract: A method for data accessing in a computer and the computer thereof is provided. The computer includes a non-volatile memory and a volatile memory, the non-volatile memory having a first portion and a second portion, and the first portion storing the basic input/output system (BIOS) of the computer. The method includes (a) copying data in the second portion of the non-volatile memory to the volatile memory when the computer starts up; (b) updating data stored in the volatile memory when a user wants to update corresponding data in the second portion of the non-volatile memory; and (c) restoring the data in the volatile memory to the non-volatile memory when the computer is ready to shut down.

  • Publication number: 20030061314
Abstract: A network has a server and a plurality of terminals connected to the server. The terminals are capable of requesting the server to transfer a program. The server responds to the request of the terminals by broadcasting the program to the terminals. The method for transferring the program via the network uses a terminal to request the server to re-transfer the program when the terminal receives only a portion of the program requested by another terminal instead of receiving the complete program during a timeout period. The method and the network system for transferring programs are capable of substantially reducing the transferring time for an operating system and effectively improving the transferring efficiency to overcome the prior art shortcomings.

  • Publication number: 20010040961
Abstract: A method of processing a phone dialing process. At first, whether the dial key signal of the dial device is inputted is checked. When the dial key signals of the dial device are inputted and the dial device is not connected, that is, a user is pressing a phone number, the values corresponding to the inputted dial key signals are sequentially stored in a first memory. When the dial device is connected but the dial key signals of the dial device are still inputted, which means that the user is pressing an extension number or a key instruction, the values corresponding to the inputted dial key signal are also stored in the first memory. In addition, at least a time value is stored in a second memory. During the redial procedure, the time value can be used to properly process the time delay problem between the normal phone number and the extension number.

  • Publication number: 20010033273
Abstract: A touch panel device driver for processing inputs from a touch panel. The touch panel device driver operates in either a normal mode or a compact mode. If the touch panel device driver operates in the normal mode, x and y coordinate data for all touched points from the touch panel are processed. If the touch panel device driver operates in the compact mode, only the x and y coordinate data for the pen-up and pen-down points from the touch panel are processed. Thereby, the system workload is reduced significantly.
