    Abstract: An electrical connector includes a terminal seat loaded with a plurality of terminals and a shielding plate. The terminal seat includes a base and a mating tongue extending from the base, the mating tongue defines two opposite mating surfaces, a confronting surface and two opposite sides connecting with the mating surfaces and the confronting surface. The terminals include contacting sections exposing upon the mating surfaces and leg sections out of the base. The shielding plate includes a main sheet disposed between the mating surfaces and two thickening sections, the two thickening sections enclose the two opposite sides of the mating tongue and each provides a side latch at an outer side face thereof. Each thickness defines two opposite first surfaces connecting with the outer side face thereof, the first surfaces complete the mating surfaces of the mating tongue.

The plug connector includes an insulating housing defining a center slot with side walls and two rows of contacts on the side walls and a metallic shell attached to an outer periphery of the insulating housing. The mating cavity of the receptacle connector is configured to be symmetrical to a horizontal center line without orientation limits so as to allow the plug connector to be mated in two opposite orientations, and the center slot receives the mating tongue.

    Abstract: An electrical connector having a fusible element for mounting on a substrate includes an insulative housing and a contact terminal retained in the insulative housing. The contact terminal includes a resilient contacting arm extending beyond a mating face of the insulative housing and a soldering portion for mating with the fusible element. A gelatinous flux is deployed on the fusible element, and/or on the soldering portion, and/or between the fusible element and the soldering portion, and then flux is dried to immovably fix the fusible element with respect to the soldering portion. The dried flux will be re-juvenile to clean and remove an oxidized layer originally existed on the soldering portion so as to achieve robust welding quality. Besides, a method for trimming an electrical connector to have robust welding properties is also disclosed.
