  • Patent number: 9717022
Abstract: A method of reducing the usable channel bandwidth and increasing the channel bandwidth at run time is provided. The method allows a receiving wireless communications device to inform its corresponding transmitting communications device to either increase, reduce, or maintain the number of usable narrow band channels for the succeeding frame exchange. In a wireless communications channel, channel reduction is accomplished by using a usable channel indicator in a response frame responding to the preceding receiving frame. The usable channel indicator is the means for the receiving communications device to inform the transmitting communications device the preferred narrow band channels that it deems having good channel characteristics.

  • Publication number: 20170070950
Abstract: A method for transiting basic service sets (BSSs) in a wireless communications system is provided. A wireless station first detects an integrity of a real-time flow from an access point in a first BSS. The wireless station then sends a request frame to the access point. The request frame comprises a communication condition of the wireless station. The access point responds with information of a plurality of APs and a set of parameters that used to select the APs. The wireless station then determines which AP to be associated according to the information of the plurality of APs and the communication quality of the wireless station.

  • Patent number: 9572192
Abstract: A method of supporting incompatible channelization in a wireless communications system is provided. A coordinating device determines a first set of physical parameters of a first wireless channel. The first set of physical parameters includes a channel bandwidth, a central frequency, a transmit power limit, and a modulation and coding scheme. The coordinating device establishes communication with a first set of communications devices over the first wireless channel. The coordinating device then broadcasts a channel-adjustment message and determines a protection period. The channel-adjustment message comprises a set of instructions on how to adjust to a second set of physical parameters of a second wireless channel. A second set of communications devices adjust physical parameters based on the channel-adjustment message. Finally, the coordinating device communicates with the second set of communications devices over the second wireless channel during the protection period.

  • Patent number: 9565516
Abstract: A method of fast link adaptation for Bluetooth long-range wireless networks is provided. A novel rate indication (RI) field is incorporated in a data packet to enable auto detection of rate adaptation at the receiver side. The data packet comprises a preamble, a first packet portion including the RI field, and a second packet portion including the PDU. The first packet portion is encoded with a first rate while the second packet portion is encoded with a second rate indicated by the RI field. The transmitting device raise/lower the encoding rate when the link quality is good/poor. The receiving device can provide recommended rate or link quality feedback information via an LMP message to help the transmitting device making rate adaptation decision. The transmitter can unilaterally decide the data rate for the second packet portion without receiver recommendation.

  • Publication number: 20160183305
Abstract: A method of improved allocation of uplink resources in an OFDMA network is proposed. A wireless communications station (an AP) reserves both dedicated resource and contention resource for uplink OFDMA operation for a list of communications devices (STAs). The AP can switch between random access operation and non-random access operation without the need for any special protection mechanisms. In the event of an increase in uplink OFDMA frame collisions the AP can switch from random operation to non-random operation to reduce the number of collisions. In the event of a decrease in uplink OFDMA frame collisions the AP can switch from non-random operation to random operation to reduce required AP processing. The AP can also dynamically control a STA access probability to reduce the number of collisions by reducing the number of uplink OFDMA frames each STA transmits.

  • Publication number: 20160157195
Abstract: A method of mitigating inter-BSS interference via synchronized inter-BSS operation is proposed. By aligning the transmission of UL and DL transmission in two overlapping OBSSs, the inter-BSS STA-to-STA and inter-BSS AP-to-AP types of interference can be eliminated. Furthermore, based on the BSS overlapping geometry and the STA location, different interference mitigation schemes can be applied to mitigate inter-BSS AP-to-STA and inter-BSS STA-to-AP types of interference.

  • Publication number: 20160157266
Abstract: A method of STA-initiated uplink (UL) aggregation is proposed in a wireless communication system. Under the STA-initiated UL aggregation, an STA can gain access to the medium through contention and after winning the TXOP, it passes the TXOP ownership to its AP to allow it to trigger UL MU transmission. Thus, the AP has increased chance of utilizing the medium while maintains fairness to both legacy APs and STAs. In addition, once AP takes over ownership of the TXOP, if it detects idle secondary channels, it can enable UL aggregation over the idle secondary channels, thereby fully utilizing the entire system bandwidth.

  • Publication number: 20160135136
Abstract: A method of joint position detection by a plurality of known location sensor devices is proposed in an indoor wireless local area network. A tag can query the sensors by sending a request. Timestamps of the query signal are recorded by the sensors. A known location designated sensor responds to the request and triggers a process to correct the clock offsets of other sensors. The timestamps are then corrected based on the clock offsets. The corrected timestamps are then sent to a position processor for determining the tag location.
