  • Patent number: 7370242
Abstract: Thermal conditions within a computer unit are monitored. A system-level temperature sensor responds to intake cooling air. A subsystem-level temperature sensor responds to the temperature of a subsystem-level component, preferably a motherboard or a backplane. When the temperature sensed by of the system-level temperature sensor falls outside of a critical limit, it is determined whether the temperature sensed by the subsystem-level temperature sensor generally correlates with the temperature sensed by the system-level temperature sensor. If there is no correlation, the operation of the computer unit is continued.

  • Publication number: 20060282870
Abstract: This invention discloses a digital video receiving system and its method. The system sets a receiving module based on a DVB-T and a DVB-H protocol to receive the digital video of the corresponding DVB-T and DVB-H signal from at least one DVB broadcast transmitter. Furthermore, according to a predetermined receiving mode and a power supply status, the DVB-T mode of the DVB-T protocol or the DVB-H mode of the DVB-H protocol can be selectively set through a determination unit to receive and perform the corresponding digital video. In addition, the determination unit, which may be a circuit or a program, can be respectively auto- or manual-change between the DVB-T mode and the DVB-H mode.

  • Patent number: 6714703
Abstract: An optical collimator comprises an optical fiber (210), a ferrule (220), a GRIN lens (230), a metal sleeve (240), and an outer metal tube (250). The optical fiber has an exposed end which is inserted into the ferrule and glued thereinto. The GRIN lens is glued into the sleeve. Opposite ends (232, 234) of the GRIN lens protrude from opposite ends of the sleeve. The outer tube includes first and second receiving portions (252, 254). The ferrule is glued into the first receiving portion, and the sleeve is secured in the second receiving portion. A plurality of soldering holes (256) is defined in a periphery of the outer tube. Soldering is applied to the sleeve through the holes to firmly connect the outer tube and the sleeve together. A position of the GRIN lens relative to the optical fiber can be easily readjusted by re-soldering the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 6704146
Abstract: A collimating device (20) comprises a GRIN lens (22), a filter (24) and an outer tube (26). The GRIN lens and the filter are both secured in the outer tube. The outer tube is made of stainless steel, and has a first receiving portion (261) and a second receiving portion (262). The first receiving portion is cylindrical, and defines a cylindrical cavity (264) therein for receiving the GRIN lens. The second receiving portion is also cylindrical, and defines a generally rectangular cavity (266) therein for receiving the filter. The GRIN lens and the filter are glued in the outer tube with relatively little epoxy, and with no excess epoxy contaminating optical faces thereof.
