  • Patent number: 6006477
Abstract: An improved umbrella rod structure of multiple tubes, in which the locating assembly includes a spring, a main body, and a plunger. The locating assembly is plugged into an inner tube, with a stop flange of the main body abutting against the lower end of the inner tube. Then, the conical front end of the plunger will retractably project out of a through hole of the inner tube. Using the recessed groove of the outer tube sliding over the elongated guide groove of the inner tube, the projecting end of the plunger will first engage with the lower aperature of the outer tube and then as the inner tube is drawn upwards to have a short rib of the main body abut against the upper segment of the recessed groove, which has a smaller curvature, the plunger will engage with the upper aperature to lock the inner tube and the outer tube in position. With such an arrangement, the inner tube and the outer tube can cooperate with each other to open or close an umbrella, without relative rotation motion therebetween.

  • Patent number: 5732725
Abstract: The invention relates to a safety runner used in umbrellas. The runner is provided with an elongated gap on its side surface and a resilient tab located outside the gap and extending downwardly from the runner base. The resilient tab has a raised portion formed on its internal surface. Users can depress the resilient tab to inwardly move a hook of the umbrella and so the runner can move downwardly with ease. The runner is an integrally molded part that has the advantages of simplified construction and safety in use.

  • Patent number: 5626160
Abstract: An umbrella includes a control device capable of actuating an upward movement of the umbrella opening spring located in the shaft so as to bring about the automatic opening of the umbrella. The elastic elements regulating the closing of the umbrella are compressed such that the lower rib holder is in the state of being pulled by two pull cords so as to keep the umbrella in its open position. When the control button of the control device is pressed for the second time, a control member regulating the closing of the umbrella is actuated to bring about the expansion of the umbrella closing elastic elements so as to cause the downward travel of the lower rib holder to result in the closing of the umbrella.

  • Patent number: 5615698
Abstract: An umbrella frame shaft assembly includes a hollow shaft, a spring piece fastened in the upper segment of the shaft, a runner fitted slidably over the shaft, and a sleeve fastened with the runner. The spring piece has an upper retaining projection and a lower retaining projection. The runner has two retaining holes. The sleeve is provided in the inner wall thereof with two retaining recesses. When the umbrella is being unfolded, the runner is moved upwards along the shaft by the sleeve such that the upper and the lower retaining projections of the spring piece are located by the retraining holes of the runner and engaged with the retaining recesses of the sleeve. When the umbrella is being folded, the upper and the lower retaining projections of the spring piece are forced by the sleeve into the hollow interior of the shaft to allow the runner to be moved downwards by the sleeve.
