  • Publication number: 20150181992
Abstract: An elastic force enhancing structure is provided for a center post of a self-opening/closing umbrella. The center post includes inner, intermediate, and outer tubes telescopically connected. A primary spring is received in the center post. The outer tube receives therein an elastic force enhancing spring and a joint sleeve that has an upper end forming an inner flange extends inwardly and a lower end forming an outer flange extends outwardly. The joint sleeve is fit over an upper end of the primary spring to have the inner flange and the upper end of the primary spring in abutting engagement. The elastic force enhancing spring has a lower end fit over the joint sleeve so that the lower end is in abutting engagement with the outer flange. As such, the elastic force enhancing spring is coupled, via the joint sleeve, to the primary spring to provide an extended configuration.

  • Publication number: 20140373886
Abstract: A contraction structure of center post of self-opening umbrella includes an outer tube and an intermediate tube telescopically fit to each other. The intermediate tube has an upper end to which an outer tube plug is mounted. The center post receives therein two sections of runner cord. The two sections of runner cord each have an end fixed to the outer tube plug and an opposite end extending around a runner cord pulley mounted to an upper end of the center post and fixed to a runner at a first runner-cord fixed position. The present invention applies two sections of runner cord to simultaneously operate so that in withdrawing the runner, two identical pulling forces are applied to the runner to enable smooth withdrawal of the runner. The present invention reduces the number of pulleys used, simplifies the structure, and improves the liability of the umbrella and extends lifespan.

  • Patent number: 8544485
Abstract: A self-closing collapsible umbrella is disclosed and an example of a three-fold umbrella is described. The umbrella includes a central shaft including a first section that includes a handle carrying an actuation button. A positioning seat that receives a retention block arranged therein is provided between the first section and a second section of the shaft and between the second section and a third section of the shaft. As such, the umbrella is opened manually to have the second section extending and positioned by the retention block engaging an upper end of the first section, and the third section is positioned by being retained at the upper end of the second section. To close the umbrella, a collapsing ring is depressed to drive a rotation block of a control seat to release the engagement of the retention block. Collapsing springs arranged on umbrella ribs apply a force to retract the sections of the central shaft to thereby complete the collapse of the umbrella.

  • Patent number: 8161988
Abstract: A central shaft control structure is provided for a self-opening/closing umbrella and is arranged in a handle of the umbrella for self-opening/closing of the umbrella, including a safety device composed of a reversal prevention wheel having a toothed surface, an operation bar comprising a pawl, and a barrel fit over the operation bar. The reversal prevention wheel comprises a safety rope wrapped therearound and having an end fixed to a third central shaft segment. When errors occur in the course of compression in closing the umbrella, the central shaft that is being compressed can be held in position, so that instantaneous spring back of the central shaft caused by an umbrella opening spring that is in a compressed condition can be prevented to ensure safety of operation and control of the self-opening/closing umbrella.

  • Publication number: 20070209690
Abstract: A collapsible umbrella with a small closed volume includes a central shaft and an upper connector. The connector connects with inner ends of every first ribs. Every second rib has its inner end connect with outer end of the first rib and has a middle bent section. The inner end of the second rib can get away from the first rib and be closer to the shaft and the connector when the umbrella is closed that reduces volume of the closed umbrella. Hence, the small volume of the closed umbrella facilitates the carrying or storing for users when not using.
