  • Patent number: 8975598
Abstract: Embodiments include methods and apparatus for identifying a thermographic phosphor (e.g., Er:YIG) incorporated on or within an article. The method and apparatus embodiments include an excitation energy generator selectively exposing the article to excitation energy in an absorption band of the thermographic phosphor. An emitted radiation detector detects first emission characteristics of first emitted radiation from the article within an emission band of the thermographic phosphor when the article has a first temperature, and detects second emission characteristics of second emitted radiation from the article within the emission band when the article has a second temperature that is different from the first temperature. A temperature adjustment element is configured to adjust the temperature of the article. Embodiments further include a processing system determining whether the first emission characteristics are sufficiently different from the second emission characteristics.

  • Publication number: 20140113590
Abstract: Techniques for switching a user equipment (UE) between wireless systems by first establishing a connection with a target system before disconnecting from a serving system are disclosed. In one design, the UE may initially communicate with a first wireless system (e.g., a WLAN system) of a first radio technology. The UE may receive a page to establish a connection with a second wireless system (e.g., a cellular system) of a second radio technology. The first and second wireless systems may be part of a small cell. The page may be sent by the second wireless system to the UE in response to a decision by a network entity to switch the UE from the first wireless system to the second wireless system. The UE may establish a connection with the second wireless system in response to the page and may thereafter terminate communication with the first wireless system.

  • Patent number: 7817273
Abstract: Systems, including methods, apparatus, and algorithms, for spectrally imaging a two-dimensional array of samples are disclosed. In one such system, a method of sample analysis includes directing light from a two-dimensional array of examination sites onto a detection area such that dispersed light of known spectral composition from each site falls on the detection area. The method further includes assigning a corresponding two-dimensional array of regions of the detection area for detecting spectra from the examination sites based, at least in part, on the known spectral composition. The method also includes placing samples into the two dimensional array of examination sites and obtaining spectral data for each sample based on the detection area.
