  • Publication number: 20090156172
Abstract: A motion driven event alert system and method synchronize output of follow-up event alerts on a mobile electronic device to changes in the state of motion of the device. Generally, the device outputs an initial alert in response to receipt of a new event from a wireless network. If a user fails to take action on the device after the device outputs the initial alert, the device determines a state of motion of the device and monitors for a change in the state of motion. When a change is detected, the device outputs a follow-up alert. If the user fails to take action on the device after the device outputs the follow-up alert, the device repeats the steps of motion state determination, motion state change monitoring, motion state change detection and output of another follow-up alert.

  • Publication number: 20070296907
Abstract: A method for adjusting an amount of liquid crystal in a liquid crystal display (LCD) device includes injecting a liquid crystal into a liquid crystal receiving space. The liquid crystal receiving space is disposed between a first substrate, a second substrate that faces the first substrate, and a sealing member interposed between the first and second substrates. The method for adjusting an amount of liquid crystal in a liquid crystal display (LCD) device further includes reducing a thickness of the sealing member at a predetermined portion of the sealing member to form a repair region, and pressurizing the liquid crystal to break the sealing member at the repair region to discharge some of the liquid crystal from the liquid crystal receiving space, so as to adjust the amount of the liquid crystal in the liquid crystal receiving space. The method for adjusting an amount of liquid crystal in a liquid crystal display (LCD) device also includes resealing the broken repair region of the sealing member.

The liquid crystal receiving space is disposed between a first substrate, a second substrate that faces the first substrate, and a sealing member interposed between the first and second substrates. The method for adjusting an amount of liquid crystal in an LCD device further includes irradiating a light to a portion of the sealing member while varying an irradiating angle of the light so as to form a repair region at the sealing member that has a thickness smaller than that of the sealing member. The method for adjusting an amount of liquid crystal in an LCD device also comprises pressurizing the liquid crystal to form an opening in the repair region of the sealing member and discharge some of the liquid crystal from the liquid crystal receiving space through the opening formed in the repair region, and sealing the opening of the repair region.

  • Publication number: 20070288752
Abstract: Security for data stored on a removable memory element communicatively coupled with a mobile electronic device is achieved through encryption of the data using authentication information stored on a removable identification element communicatively coupled with the device. By encrypting the data stored on the removable memory element using authentication information that is stored on a removable identification element, only the possessor of the removable identification element or a person with knowledge of personal information stored thereon can access the data. Private data stored on the removable memory element is thereby advantageously protected against disclosure to a person who is not meant to have access to the data.
