  • Publication number: 20200324326
Abstract: Soil contamination by heavy metals constitutes an important environmental problem, whereas field applicability of existing remediation technologies has encountered numerous obstacles, such as long operation time, high chemical cost, large energy consumption, secondary pollution, and soil degradation. A design and demonstration of a method is provided which is based on asymmetrical alternating current electrochemistry (AACE) that achieves high degrees of contaminant removal for different heavy metals (Cu, Pb, Cd) at different initial concentrations (from 100 to 10,000 ppm), all reaching corresponding regulation levels for residential scenario after rational treatment time (from 30 min to 6 h). No excessive nutrient loss in treated soil was observed and no secondary toxic product was produced. Long-term experiment and plant assay showed the high sustainability of the method and its feasibility for agricultural use.

  • Publication number: 20200232089
Abstract: A semiconductor device and a method of fabricating the device are disclosed. The method of forming a metal layer includes: placing a substrate in a sputtering chamber; forming a first metal sub-layer on the substrate by performing a magnetron sputtering process; and forming a second metal sub-layer on the first metal sub-layer by performing another magnetron sputtering process and concurrently introducing a heated gas stream in the sputtering chamber, wherein the first metal sub-layer and the second metal sub-layer together constitute the metal layer and are each formed of aluminum doped with copper. The metal layer resulting from this method contains uniformly-sized small crystal grains separated from one another by minimal gaps between their grain boundaries. This imparts to the metal layer high surface flatness with fewer undesired bumps and hence good appearance, resulting in an increase in its yield.

  • Publication number: 20190340922
Abstract: Disclosed aspects relate to transportation vehicle traffic management. A traffic controller detects a first traffic state parameter value for a first lane. In response to detecting the first traffic state parameter value, the traffic controller establishes a first broadcast of a first movement value (e.g., speed, acceleration, direction). The first movement value may indicate a first movement pattern for a first set of vehicles in the first lane. In response to establishing the first broadcast of the first movement value, the traffic controller detects a second traffic state parameter value for the first lane. In response to detecting the second traffic state parameter value the traffic controller modifies the first broadcast of the first movement value. The modified first movement value may indicate a second movement pattern for the first set of vehicles in the first lane.
