Patent number: 12587172Abstract: Front-end circuitry for a wireless communication device is disclosed. In some embodiments, the radio frequency (RF) front-end circuitry includes various transceiver chains. The transceiver chains may each include a bulk acoustic wave (BAW) filter. The BAW filter in each of the transceiver chains may each have the same filter design with various exposed external pins, such as input pins, output pins, and ground pins. With respect to the transceiver chains, a different combination of the external pins are hardwired depending on a desired placement of a passband. In this manner, switches and control circuitry for the switches are not needed in order to place the passband. Furthermore, BAW filters with the same filter design can be used in the different transceiver chains, thereby simplifying the manufacturing process of the front-end circuitry.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 2024Date of Patent: March 24, 2026Assignee: Qorvo US, Inc.Inventors: Chris Levesque, Mudar Al-Joumayly

Patent number: 12456964Abstract: A programmable acoustic filter circuit is provided. Herein, the programmable acoustic filter circuit can be dynamically controlled to toggle between two different passbands, such as different unlicensed national information infrastructure (UNII) bands. The programmable acoustic filter circuit includes an insertion element, a main filter, and a notch circuit. The insertion element is coupled in series with the main filter with very low insertion loss. Specifically, the notch circuit can be dynamically decoupled from the insertion element to thereby cause the main filter to pass a radio frequency (RF) signal in a main passband or be coupled to the insertion element to thereby cause the main filter to pass the RF signal in an alternative passband different from the main passband. As a result, it is possible to flexibly configure the programmable acoustic filter circuit to provide adequate out-of-band rejection with lowest possible insertion loss in various coexisting and concurrent operations.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 2023Date of Patent: October 28, 2025Assignee: Qorvo US, Inc.Inventor: Chris Levesque

Publication number: 20250167752Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a filter architecture, which includes a filter bank with multiple filters, an input switch coupled to an input side of the filter bank, and an output switch coupled to an output side of the filter bank. Each filter is multiplexed with one or more different filters at the input side and the output side of the filter bank. At a given time, the input switch is controlled to connect a first group of the filters to a radio frequency (RF) input terminal, and the output switch is controlled to connect a second group of the filters to an RF output terminal. Herein, the first group and the second group have one filter in common, such that the input switch and the output switch are configured to select one of the filters to operate at the given time.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 19, 2024Publication date: May 22, 2025Inventors: Chris Levesque, Mudar AlJoumayly
