  • Patent number: 9267484
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for pre-ignition control. A pre-ignition mitigating enrichment is deactivated in response to a tip-out but reactivated in response to a subsequent tip-in. By preemptively enriching the engine, repeated pre-ignition due at subsequent tip-ins is reduced.

  • Publication number: 20160040589
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for adjusting charge motion control devices coupled to a series of cylinders organized into cylinder groups, one of the cylinder groups including a dedicated EGR cylinder group wherein the cylinders are the only engine cylinder routing exhaust to an engine intake. In one example, a first cylinder group may be a dedicated cylinder group recirculating exhaust to the intake manifold while a second cylinder group may be a non-dedicated cylinder group routing exhaust to a turbine. A method may include adjusting a first charge motion control device coupled to the first cylinder group and a second charge motion control device coupled to the second cylinder group to vary a charge motion level between the first and second cylinder groups.

  • Publication number: 20160025021
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for exhaust catalyst temperature control by metering exhaust bypass flow from a dedicated EGR cylinder. A continuously variable bypass valve may be adjusted to vary an amount of exhaust directed to an exhaust catalyst from a dedicated EGR cylinder via a bypass passage relative to exhaust recirculated to the engine intake via an EGR passage. At lower catalyst temperatures, more exhaust is metered via the bypass passage to enable catalyst temperature to be maintained above an activation level.

  • Publication number: 20150361927
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for reducing turbo lag in an engine system configured with a cylinder dedicated for exhaust gas recirculation and distinct turbines coupled to the dedicated EGR cylinder and remaining engine cylinders. An air-fuel ratio of combustion in the dedicated cylinder is adjusted responsive to a tip-in event by providing blow-through air and additional fuel based on the amount of heat required to spin up a turbine coupled to the dedicated cylinder and provide the requested boost pressure. The approach enables turbo lag to be reduced while providing high EGR at high boost conditions.

  • Publication number: 20150354477
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for reducing torque transients experienced when a dedicated EGR cylinder is deactivated to reduce EGR. Before deactivating the dedicated cylinder, an intake throttle position and spark timing of remaining engine cylinders is adjusted to build-up torque reserve in anticipation of a negative torque transient at deactivation. Then, the throttle position or spark timing is adjusted to reduce torque when a positive torque transient is expected.

  • Patent number: 9210378
Abstract: Implementations generally relate to controlling access to meetings. In some implementations, a method includes determining a locked state of a meeting, wherein, in the locked state, the meeting is restricted to a first set of users. The method further includes changing the meeting to an unlocked state based on one or more predetermined unlock criteria, wherein, in the unlocked state, the meeting is open to the first set of users and to a second set of users. The method further includes changing the meeting back to the locked state based on one or more predetermined lock criteria.

  • Publication number: 20150345407
Abstract: Various systems and methods are described for controlling fuel injection in a variable displacement engine. One method for a deactivatable cylinder comprises, before deactivating the cylinder responsive to operating conditions, disabling a port injector and fueling the cylinder only via the direct injector. The method further comprises, when reactivating the cylinder from deactivation, enabling both the port injector and the direct injector, and injecting a higher amount of fuel via the direct injector while simultaneously injecting a lower amount of fuel via the port injector.

  • Publication number: 20150345419
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for enriching an engine cylinder in response to an indication of pre-ignition. The cylinder is enriched by initially increasing a proportion of fuel delivered to the cylinder via a port injector on an open intake valve event. The cylinder is then continued to be enriched by increasing a proportion of fuel delivered to the cylinder via a direct injector.

  • Publication number: 20150337696
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for improving purge air-fuel ratio control. Fuel vapors from a canister and the crankcase are selectively purged to a group of cylinders and not to remaining engine cylinders. Exhaust is recirculated from the selected group of cylinders to the engine intake wherefrom the EGR is ingested in the remaining engine cylinders and the selected group of cylinders.

  • Patent number: 9181859
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for adjusting a wastegate in response to condensate forming conditions in a charge air cooler (CAC). In one example, a wastegate may be opened in response to an induction pressure greater than a threshold pressure when the induction pressure is greater than required to produce a manifold pressure required for a torque demand. Further, a compressor recirculation valve may be opened to further reduce the induction pressure during certain driving conditions.

  • Patent number: 9181892
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for reducing late burn induced cylinder pre-ignition events. Forced entry of residuals from a late burning cylinder into a neighboring cylinder may be detected based on engine block vibrations sensed in a window during an open exhaust valve of the late burning cylinder. In response to the entry of residuals, a pre-ignition mitigating action, such as fuel enrichment or deactivation, is performed in the neighboring cylinder.

  • Patent number: 9151214
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for purging condensate from a charge air cooler to an engine intake while reducing misfire events related to the water ingestion. During the purging, a spark timing is adjusted based on the amount of condensate purged per cycle. The spark timing is adjusted differently when the condensate is purged during a tip-in versus a pro-active clean-out routine.

  • Patent number: 9145823
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for performing a pro-active condensate clean-out of a charge air cooler.
