  • Publication number: 20160236794
Abstract: An aircraft monitoring system includes multiple wireless aircraft sensors and multiple meta sensors mounted on-board an aircraft. Each wireless aircraft sensor is configured to sense an aircraft parameter. Each meta sensor is associated with an aircraft sensor and is configured to determine a location or orientation on the aircraft of the aircraft sensor. A data acquisition system mounted on-board the aircraft and connected to the multiple aircraft sensors and the multiple meta sensors can perform aircraft monitoring operations based on the sensed aircraft parameters and on a location or orientation of the aircraft sensors.

  • Patent number: 9390625
Abstract: A vehicle status awareness system includes one or more devices which are plugged into a cigarette lighter socket for a vehicle to receive power and are thereby fixed in position relative to the vehicle. The devices include movement sensors which indicate changes in movement of the vehicle, a position sensor which indicates a position of the vehicle, a communications device to send and receive data to and from a remote device, and a control unit. The control unit is programmed to receive and store program parameters, determine a location of the vehicle, determine a movement status of the vehicle based on a plurality of status criteria further comprising accident threshold settings, and transmit one or more of the program parameters, vehicle location, and movement status to the remote device. Where multiple devices are included, each device may have an RF transceiver or equivalent for bidirectional communications with the other device.

  • Publication number: 20150126983
Abstract: An incisionless fully endoscopic method of reducing the capacity of the stomach is provided to surgically treat obesity. The method is directed to endoluminal tissue approximation of a portion of the stomach, including at least a portion of the greater curvature thereof. The method includes a pattern of stitching in which a portion of the stomach is closed off. One stitching pattern causes the lateral portion of the stomach to be drawn to reduce the usable volume of the stomach while maintaining a pathway from the esophagus to the pylorus. As the stitching pattern advances, the fundus is automatically drawn downward so that it may be endoscopically approached for stitching in a facilitated manner. According to another aspect of the invention, another stitching pattern extends from the antrum to the fundus between the anterior and posterior portions of the stomach.

  • Patent number: 8907772
Abstract: A computer program product is provided for automatically detecting unsafe driving practices and providing real time driver feedback upon execution by either of a local device which may be embodied in for example a cigarette lighter adapter, or a mobile cellular device such as for example an iPhone. The device upon which the program is embodied is thus configured to receive and store program parameters including predetermined speed limit settings, receive sensor output signals representative of vehicle position and vehicle movement, determine a location of the vehicle based on the position sensor output signals, and determine a safe- or unsafe-driving condition based on the movement sensor output signals and at least a predetermined speed limit setting associated with the vehicle location. A driver alert signal is further generated in response to determining an unsafe driving condition, and notification of unsafe driving conditions may be accordingly transmitted to third parties.

  • Publication number: 20140089290
Abstract: Interaction of a user with external data sources related to the research and analysis of terms and content for improved indexing by search engines may be provided. One or more elements of the content may be used to return an analysis of those elements to the user within the experience of a word processing application environment. Systems and methods also may be provided for determining the relative competition of a term or terms to quantitatively derive the number of pages within a corpus that may be actively engaged to improve the indexing of the pages by information retrieval systems, such as search engines. Systems and methods may be further provided for determining the relative ranking of a term or terms based on the frequency and placement of the term or terms within a structured page.

  • Publication number: 20090012544
Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems and methods for treating a patient that has undergone a bariatric surgical procedure, to promote weight loss in the patient. The systems and methods can involve positioning a gastrointestinal bypass sleeve within a portion of the altered GI anatomy to create or restore a restriction, and/or create a malabsorptive effect via a gastric and partial intestinal bypass. The bypass sleeve can include a proximal attachment element for attaching the proximal end of the sleeve in a penetrating or non-penetrating manner at the gastroesophageal junction, stomach, neo-stomach, or other locations. The bypass can be placed during the same operative session as the bariatric surgical procedure, or alternatively at a later date.
