  • Publication number: 20130245035
Abstract: Described are a series of 2-pyridone compounds as a potent and selective new class of type II topoisomerase inhibitors with broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity having the general formula (I); where R1, R2, X, and Y are defined herein Such compounds can be used in methods for treating an infection caused by a gram-positive pathogen, a gram-negative pathogen, or a drug-resistant strains thereof.

  • Patent number: 8166457
Abstract: A method of implementing a complete SAP system landscape on IBM System i is provided. This method involves preselecting at least one value-added reseller (VAR) for participation in implementing the complete SAP system landscape on IBM System i. The VAR then selects values for flexible parameters according to needs of a customer. The flexible parameters include languages for i5/OS and SAP, an amount of SAP ERC Central Component (ECC) systems ranging from one to three, an inclusion of a SAP Solution Manager, a client landscape, a configuration of SAP systems, and a level of software stack. The level of software stack includes a layer of the SAP systems, a layer implementing country-specific configuration, a layer implementing industry-specific configuration, and a layer of VAR added value. Media is created and implemented with the specified content at a factory using standard SAP procedures. A full backup of the SAP systems is then created using standard i5/OS operating system imaging.

  • Patent number: 8086912
Abstract: A computing system is provided and includes first computing resources representing a fraction of total computing resources, second computing resources representing at least a partial remainder of the total computing resources except for the first computing resources, and a memory unit. The memory unit includes a computer-readable medium having computer-readable executable instructions stored thereon that are accessible to at least the second computing resources. When executed, the executable instructions cause the second computing resources to monitor a process running on the first computing resources in accordance with pre-selected parameters, to determine that a potential lock or wait situation that impedes the process is in effect from a result of the monitoring and to execute an action in response to the potential lock or wait situation.

  • Patent number: 7987219
Abstract: The present invention is an incremental umbrella sampling method to improve the performance of established sampling methods. It is sampling the state space by iteratively generating states xi,t and their weighting factors represented by Formula (a) by fitting the sampling distribution function ?j(x) of the next iteration to at least one weighted property of the already sampled states. This means that ?j(x) is fitted to the product represented by Formula (b), in which Formula (a) is the weighting factor and O(x,i) is a function respectively a property of the states xi,t. The number of states xi,t and the number of weighting factors (see Formula (a)) is incremented with each iteration. In order to have a consistent set of weighting factors (see Formula (a)), the weighting factors are recalculated in each iteration for all, respectively for a set of selected, states. By fitting ?j(x) in the state space it is possible to use all the information of Formula (a) and O(xi,t) for the states xi,t generated so far.

  • Publication number: 20090070300
Abstract: Data queries can be processed in the following way without changing any existing program logic or application code. Control information for determining access plan instructions for data queries is accessed. A first data query for extracting information from a data source is received. Access plan instructions for the first data query are determined based at least on contents of the first data query and the control information. Access plan instructions are provided to the data source for generating an access plan to extract the information.

  • Patent number: 5695389
Abstract: A blasting device for directed air with entrained blast media at a work surface includes a frame supporting a reciprocal valve, and an adjustable valve limit switch. A shaft is attached to the reciprocal valve at one end, and is supported via a bearing assembly at the other end with a blast nozzle mounted thereto. Rotation of the reciprocal valve causes rotation of the interconnected blast nozzle such that air with entrained blast media exiting the blast nozzle travels along a path beneath the frame. The frame is supported on wheels, and is moved along a work surface by an operator. A vacuum port is positioned adjacent the work surface for removing spent blast media with entrained debris from beneath the blasting device. The handle may be rotated from end to end for ease of operation to assure that the user may move the blasting device in either the forward or rearward direction along a work surface.
