  • Publication number: 20210260302
Abstract: A drug delivery device includes a housing, an injection assembly at least partially disposed in the housing, a shield, and a drive assembly at least partially disposed in the housing and coupled with the injection assembly and the shield. The shield has an extended position where at least a proximal end thereof extends a distance beyond a proximal end of the housing. The injection assembly includes a needle or cannula having an endpoint. Upon moving the shield axially towards the distal end of the housing a predetermined distance, a retraction profile commences whereby the drive assembly administers a medicament via the injection assembly. A peak resistance force is exerted within approximately the first 12 mm of axial movement of the shield.

  • Patent number: 11052185
Abstract: The present invention concerns a medical injection device for apportioning set doses of a preservative containing liquid drug. The injection device comprises a housing supporting a cartridge containing the preservative containing liquid drug and a needle cannula for transferring the liquid drug from the cartridge and through the skin of a user. Further, a needle shield which is axially movable in relation to the housing is also present. The axially movable shield carries a cleaning reservoir for cleaning at least the tip of the needle cannula between subsequent injections and the cleaning reservoir is preferably filled with preservative containing liquid drug directly from the cartridge upon initiation of the injection device. In order to eliminate any overpressure being built up inside the cleaning reservoir during the filling process, the cleaning reservoir is provided with an outlet configured to be permanently sealed by a user activated operation.

Abstract: Injection systems for drug delivery are disclosed. A system may include a container filled or fillable with a drug, a stopper movably disposed in the container, a plunger, an energy source outputting a force, a mechanical linkage operable to transmit the force output by the energy source to the plunger to cause the plunger to act on the stopper to expel the drug from the container, and a trigger member. The system may have pre-injection state where the trigger member inhibits actuation of the mechanical linkage, an injection state where the trigger member permits actuation of the mechanical linkage, and a post-injection state where the plunger is stationarily positioned in an end-of-dose position. The system may be designed to limit the number of components included in various force transmission loops present in the pre-injection, injection, and/or post-injection states.
